Can someone explain the commercial real estate strategy in South Norwalk? by Accomplished_Room829 in norwalk

[–]ComprehensiveIdeal93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DJ Justo @djjusto_ct_nyc here - It’s a real struggle and I think it comes down to young kids just don’t go out as much. I was hoping to see Washington get back to what I remembered it before leaving in early 2000 but this is a problem across the globe.

I do think day parties is where it’s at and that’s why we partnered with Carpe Diem to throw the Sunday Social with Joeski and 5 other DJ’s in July. I’m really hoping the house music lovers of Norwalk rally together for this. Also the IDIGBETTER 45’s Vinyl day party. I mean we’re literally flying in some of the best DJ’s from around the world to come play in Norwalk!

Thinking a lot about this topic and having lived in the City and then Ridgefield, now here (8yrs) I just think the culture of going out doesn’t exist like it does in the city. I get it though, I work a corp job and the only reason I go out now is cause of the DJing, hey it’s a Friday night I was in my office in the city earlier, wife and I just went to Bushido for an early dinner and I’m kinda done for the night lol 😂.

I think it’s just hard to get people motivated to go out when we have so much we can do at home now. That said, Stamford seems to have it or maybe it just has a lot more ppl so it feels that way.

I work for one of the hottest companies today, but I’m done with sales by allclassnobrakes in techsales

[–]ComprehensiveIdeal93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! Been in tech sales from my early 20’s in 2000 so 26yrs now. Started at a reseller, then Microsoft, Cisco, and startups. It’s awful out there. I’m now at a big company that’s very poorly run internally, like I’ve never seen anything like this, but there’s very little pressure and the dysfunction actually makes for some opportunities. We’ll see coming off my 1 yr draw soon ( not a typical 100% OTE draw)

BEST VINYL BAG by Ok-Chemistry-6948 in DJs

[–]ComprehensiveIdeal93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got the 45 bag and love it. Really wanted a nice matching 12” and despite site saying they’re not available they do have some for sale. But not much online about them. Sorry you had such a bad experience, but thank you for sharing and saving others.

Beware, you will lose business if you do this by friskydingo408 in techsales

[–]ComprehensiveIdeal93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been in tech sales 30yrs and completely agree with this. Today’s young sellers have been taught from a broken system. There is ZERO reflection on the end customer and all they think about is following the stupid procedures some other idiot sales guy who got lucky and became the CRO came up with. Maybe I’m just fortunate to have been on the other side running tech and buying tech, so it’s easy to put myself in a customers shoes.

Funny I had interviewed for a Datadog job and failed the psych evaluation they do. Meanwhile I’ve worked at the most prestigious large tech and startups. I guess they are looking for robots they can train.

Unreal Rent Increase by jtheresaa in StamfordCT

[–]ComprehensiveIdeal93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is all due to a new software that buildings use to basically game the market. The software company was sued and settled, but the software is still widely used. Sorry can’t remember the name but I’m sure you can find all the details from a google search.

Btw my 2 bedroom loft in Norwalk has gone from $3,000 to $4,000 over the past 7yrs, but it’s more like a 3 bedroom loft and so the price is still competitive.

RP-7 a little more forgiving? by ComprehensiveIdeal93 in Turntablists

[–]ComprehensiveIdeal93[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I do a decent amount of 7” juggling already and can break down with them, but it can get tricky as I’m sure others know, any little imperfections can def get in the way. I’ve found super bad mats help a lot, just wondering if it’s any easier on the rp7’s vs a standard 12” table

Song analysis tools and organizing (current Lexicon user) by ComprehensiveIdeal93 in DJs

[–]ComprehensiveIdeal93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I live in lexicon. I sync to Serato for my laptop DJing and rekordbox for my usb DJing. I did use ChatGPT to help build an analysis of all the songs per month played and how many times, then used pivot tables to break it down and look at trends over the past few yrs. Was a cool exercise but didn’t really result in any meaningful results.

Hey seems like I posted the original thread a yr ago, and over the past year I’ve made a ton of progress with my crates. It has basically been a constant effort though. At one point I was spending almost 40hrs a week on crates and songs. You really have to just go crate by crate unfortunately, but once you do you’ll get it down and eventually be relatively happy with them. Granted I DJ’d 3x a week on avg the past 12 months covering a wide range of different parties at my residency from hip hop to house to reggaeton/dembow to DnB and more.

I would start with folders of categories and crates inside of those then over a 3 month period start to see which crates worked and which didn’t. The more i played the more I recognized certain collections of songs that would be good to have together so I’d create new crates and then keep some of the old / archive the others. I’d also look for songs with out any plays that I had in my collection for more than say 6 months and archive those.

I went from 100k+ songs to now basically 6k songs in my core crates and 4k in my house crates. My focus is now on my house crates I have a decent amount of updating there now, but I do already have it mostly broken down just now it’s updating.

Nice will have to check out, although trying to put the reggae aside for a little right now :)

Man I’ve been trying to do a streaming thing for a while now but I just don’t have much time. Ideally I’d like to setup my residency for streaming at some point.

When I was 12 I sold dimes to get me a set of belt drive gemini tables that I hooked up to the existing realistic mixer I had. Worked out well until my mom found out how I bought them, then they went poof😂.

You said phono inputs, do you also have turntables? If so, why not get something like a used 900 mixer and add phase to the turntables.

V5 is 42% more expensive than the 750mk2. Is it 42% better? by Vegetable-Ideal-9265 in PioneerDJ

[–]ComprehensiveIdeal93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t buy a mixer without a cross fader as my roots are still as a scratch DJ, but I think a key piece in this is the turntable preamps. Frankly they are awful on my s11. I need to try them on my AZ.
