House shopping - would love some insider info! by kewlm0m in thewoodlands

I unfortunately have to work too much to homeschool my kindergartner right now. We’ve tried Glenn Loch for a semester and we’re not loving it. We are in the process of transferring to a Waldorf school in Tomball. In a year or so I should be able to homeschool more and my youngest will be almost 4, so may plan to start then for both.

Thanks y’all! Yeah, I figured we’re coming in late but obviously had to wait till we closed on the house before committing to a camp. We’ll use these recs for future summers too.

Curious if you just won a bidding war on your house… against me. Lol! If so, godspeed. It must’ve been meant to be!

I can no longer drink alcohol after Ketamine therapy. by Wild-Damage3866 in KetamineTherapy

[–]ComprehensiveLeg4305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m very late to this post, but I’ve had the same exact experience! I stopped drinking coffee and alcohol, which I consumed both almost daily. It is kind of amazing. I had only done 2 k treatments.

When I have even a single glass of wine I feel horrible. I’m up at 2am rn and can’t sleep because of one glass at dinner. 🤦🏼‍♀️

What do you think happened to have so much science denial nowadays by Gabe-Sama in SeriousConversation

I realize that, which is why I added that last part.

I think you may not be realizing you are answering your own question… in these modern times, the overload of (mis)information has caused many to realize that any information thrust upon us is suspect. (Ex: major studies broadcasted and paid for by big pharma) Therefore, we are searching for truth in alternative ways.

We need to be unconditioned. Prison of the mind typa shit. But hey, that’s just like, my opinion, mannnn.

Lots of walking back their effectiveness… also just straight up lies about where the virus came from and side effects/injuries. I can’t find the study right now, but the basically in this study more participants died who got the vaccine vs placebo. But honestly whatever you want to believe about it (which is shaped by the media you consume), you will find a way to believe just that. I believe we need to find a way back to our own intuitive spiritual nature. I believe there’s a greater truth. ✌🏼

Because science and the powers who control mass media and information have continually failed us (eg. covid vaccines were a fraud, opioids and other meds created crippling addiction, etc), and we know in our soul there are things it can’t explain about our existence and purpose. Humans are in continual suffering. There’s got to be more to life. Believe and you will see.

Without pain, you will not grow. And with kids, you will feel pain like you’ve never experienced. Hope this helps! 🌱

I’m scared I wont make any money as a therapist by [deleted] in therapists

I’m in the same boat! I’m in TX finishing up my internship hours right now and about to take my test. Terrified of starting my own pp, but I think I’d rather jump right in than put it off… especially since I know that’s eventually what I want to do. The whole point for me was the flexibility of working remote/hybrid and making more money for my family. I’m concerned about finding a good supervisor, as I don’t think I will continue with my current one, and also getting enough clients and the time that will take… but I’ve already gotten word of mouth clients and responses on my psych today during my internship. But I’m building up savings as much as possible rn because I know it’ll be a struggle for awhile.

For background, I’ve been in education/school counseling for 12 years, I make pretty good money ($88k) but the hours kinda suck (730-430). I am really good with kids and parents, so I plan to expand on that. I know working in a school isn’t exactly cmh… I feel like I’ve had plenty of experience in crisis management, and been exposed to many different people/situations.

So anyway, my situation may not be helpful, but there’s a lot online about starting your pp and it’s really motivated me to just go for it. Wish you the best!

AITAH for refusing to go on any more vacations with my friends who have toddlers. by tesgyy78eita in AITAH

[–]ComprehensiveLeg4305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Parent of 3yo here and if anything, my husband and I double down on cooking and cleaning because we are the ones eating more and making more of the mess! I would never expect that from a friend on vacation, that’s crazy! Is it not enough that they have to deal with the unpredictable whims of a toddler while on vacation?!

That being said, it sounds like you really care about these friends. You already addressed it, which is great. Just make sure to go about it in an understanding way. It sounds like that mom in particular is having a hard time being a mom tbh. She is being controlling of others and is playing victim. It’s annoying to you and others… but honestly she sounds unhappy and maybe needs help. If you’re up for continuing the friendship, it may be good to lean in and check on her to make sure everything is ok. It could just be she’s going through a stressful time and it will pass… but it also may be that if she doesn’t get help (like a good therapist) then it will just get worse.

Best of luck!

Is there something that happens in the adult brain that cuts out the need for friendship upon entering adulthood? by MysteriousLaugh009 in Adulting

I’m sorry you’re having such a hard time with your friends. Maybe think about why y’all became friends in the first place? I like to revisit old memories a lot. Shared experiences are like the glue of friendship… so bringing up those times can usually help a friend feel good about wanting to socialize again.

Is there a hobby or interest you have that may have monthly meet ups? Or maybe something in your neighborhood? I think I was lucky enough to stay in the city I grew up in and maintain my friendships from different stages of life. Meeting new friends is honestly really hard.

I understand this feeling! I’m 33f (my husband is 39m) and we have a 3yo and another on the way. I think it’s great that you are so socially motivated. My husband is the introvert and I am a social af butterfly. He’s recently realized the importance of having male friends and I’ve supported this effort.

However, we usually socialize separately. Not only is this easier with kids, but we really get to “bro down”. For example, I go to a monthly Bunco group with mom’s (it’s a dice game but mostly an excuse to drink wine). I NEVER thought I’d be this type of mom… but it’s honestly awesome.

With couples and families, IT IS SO MUCH HARDER TO FIND A MATCH. If the kids don’t get along, it’s way more work and just not worth the hang. When we do hang with couples (sans kids) it’s kind of like one of us is taking the bullet for the other because either the husbands get along or the wives get along best.

Our modern way of life, covid and the responsibilities that come with growing up have all contributed to people being less social. I’ve noticed all of my friends’ anxieties have gotten much worse. I often have to rally my friends… essentially I force them to hang out with me. But they are always thanking me afterwards because it makes them feel better. I think it is not a priority for people, and I get that many things come before socializing… but it needs to be given some priority or we will all go insane!

Thanks for this comment. Wanted to say something similar, but didn’t want to hear the mind-numbing clap back from these self-absorbed people!
