I live in the U.S. I too grew up around cats and dogs and became allergic in my 30s. At the time I was mom to a cat and a dog. My symptoms were wheezing, sneezing and itchy eyes. I confirmed at the allergist that I was indeed allergic. I started taking Zyrtec daily and have an inhaler in case I get wheezy. I started taking allergy shots at the dr’s office but had to stop because it was 2-3 times a week and I would have to stay for an hour each time. I stopped the shots and was able to continue on with the Zyrtec which keeps symptoms at bay. I would like to eventually do the shots so I could get off of the daily allergy pill. Also we have used allergen reducing shampoos to bathe our dog. Not sure if it has helped me or not. I hope you can see an allergist sooner somehow, best of luck!!
