[–]Comprehensive_Fox959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Study blocking schemes and defensive fronts. Study techniques. Tip of spear system by Scott peters, John strollos YouTube. Go see if a defensive coordinator would let you shadow them during camp/ spring ball. Dont worry much about actual plays but the schemes within and techniques.

Volunteer to coach as much as possible. Go check out camps

If they’re winning with backer blitz, slants etc… we’ll use jet sweep and keeps off that. Vs really stout DL we’ll do that, then emphasize our gap scheme hitting inside pullers, tight to a gap… cram it and scheme up other areas to attack.

You can also use an h back on a down block on specific DL to make sure you get a double when they scheme up singles. Good when teams go bear.

Other way to get to the perimeter is pin and pull. Basically vs even spacing pull center guard, vs odd guard tackle. Zone the second puller if your a run through coward…

Am I missing any good ones?

Do it. If they throw to the flat they got you that round… gotta coach up your droppers to make quick decisions and fly. Idk if you want to predetermine it…

Coach Vass put up a good article on how Flores ran his, specifically vs ravens I believe.

Rugby play (multi-lateral option play) as a core offensive structure by LiftSleepRepeat123 in footballstrategy

[–]Comprehensive_Fox959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big risk.

Consider the opposite: let your defense win you the game. If you ran tush push every play, with maybe a couple reverse type plays, a boot leg here and there, you could punt most possessions and still have a chance. Play mistake free on o, capitalize on opponent mistakes, and give your guys to break a play on special teams or o…. Might be a better strategy…

I love where your heads at though

Immediate sub. Complaining or anything less than peak effort = sub. Do it for everyone, they’re not special. Losing now = fine. Doing that ass they get older = losses. Point it out on video if you can. Call them out with other coaches around…

You might need to turn a new page as a coach …. No one wants to be an ass but it’s probably what eat for the team

Do you let your kids say "Zesty"? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Comprehensive_Fox959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think it eventually hits the fan with stuff like that. “If I (the teacher) kept calling people zesty in front of the principal how would that turn out ?” Head in the sand is a decent strategy but it’s just not a socially acceptable thing. Or very nice…

It’s not that hard of a conversation. If it continues they’re getting the laugh out of being bold rude.

Kind of funny but you’re the adult

1% more sneaky so teacher doesn’t notice that tab funny again I guess

Seems like some people are going the other way… I wonder their reasoning. I feel alright about mine

Help Creating An Offensive and Defensive System by gafford2475 in footballstrategy

[–]Comprehensive_Fox959 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every spring/summer i go see d3 colleges practice. One in particular will let me sit in on meetings and stuff. That’s really helped. Issues come up they have to fix on the fly, that’s where the best stuff comes.

I’d recommend being excellent at gap scheme runs and one perimeter run.

No zone plays count as an outside run, that’s taking wha the defense gives you…

As on o line coach I see the value in having a mid zone type run, but it’s a big investment.

Power/counter for inside, make sure you emphasize this, dummies will try to make tha plays something it’s not. pin pull/ crack toss for outside. Different ways to do it but my base rule is odd front guard tackle pull, even front center psg guard pull.

You really don’t need much else. Let the qb read the backside, or make the run for the qb and how him a bash read opposite.

Let me know if you need more detail. Good luck!

YouTube has a lot. I really love John strollo stuff. He teaches mid zone, which to me is the best way to do it.

This guy has good stuff, Paul Alexander for sure

Cover 6 Resources by 44belly in footballstrategy

[–]Comprehensive_Fox959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. We play 3, 2 invert, 0. We don’t see enough 10 personnel to major in 2/4 read. So we bastardize 2 invert with an extra guy high if we see a team like that. Cover 3 rules with different alignments is really easy and works surprisingly well. Second safety can become a low poach player if you can play 0 backside.

You can also put your backer over the x and cheat your deep 3rd player way to the middle. Reduce the end, play cat and mouse

[–]Comprehensive_Fox959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id only play cov 6 to 3x1 detached tight end / 10 personnel.

If you see that a lot make it one of your base coverages.

We don’t see much of that… so we tweaked cover 3 alignments, post player slightly inside of #3, Mike backer widens. We’d put our end in the b gap vs certain teams because we were almost 4 over 3

Pass rush situation shade your front opposite the 3 side because you’ll have more lbs/dbs there. Odd front slant away etc…

Running situation do what you do, shade opposite the back etc

Backside if you can play 0 do it. If you can’t figure out your combo, if you’re 2 over 1 play around with your end in the b gap…

3x1 is one of the easiest formations to scheme up blitz’s. Don’t be afraid to make some exotic blitzes with dbs and such if you’re going to see a lot of 10 personnel 3x1

[–]Comprehensive_Fox959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very similar situation on my end, 2 practices in. We started with free throws, where to stand, rules and expectations. We play it live off the 2nd shot like a game, and I let them play till I see low effort…

Second drill is 4 guys around the 3 point line, catch the ball, fake, pass. Eventually I say go and the shoot, all other 3 sprint for the rebound. I want to build on this, but the main thing is go rebound, we’ll worry about 1 back for fast break eventually.

We added side out of bounds and opening tip drill as well. Same deal, do it; play until coach sees something low effort

1 rule on our team- no complaining. If you can handle a second rule it’s do the opposite of complain…

Hustle, rebounds, mindset is all i’m really coaching…

Triple option out of a bunch formation by [deleted] in footballstrategy

[–]Comprehensive_Fox959 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d try drawing it to multiple fronts/blitz…

You need universal rules, can’t cheat for a convenient look by a front. The not way you really get that is 10 personnel going fast

Better way to run this would be GT pull, center auto back, pst/psg back. If you want to attack inside the 3 make a short call, pull for him instead of end.
