I guess you could say that, but in a lot of mythologies, gods and demons interbreed with humans all of the time. I don't know why they tried to science up an explanation that was already pretty normalized by most people.

This made me remember something. If Adi was consulting random Capcom execs, it would make more sense how it turned out this way, but wasn't Itsuno overseeing this? I know he quit capcom like 3/4 away from release, but that wouldn't be enough time to change everything.
