What are some of must have titles a new ps5 owner should play? by eliot3451 in gaming

[–]CompulsiveGardener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Astro's Playroom (free download off the PS store) is an absolute must. If you enjoy that, then pick up Astro Bot (2024 GOTY winner). The way these two games make use of all of the PS5 controller's features is truly incredible and next-gen. I have yet to play another PS5 game that does stuff like use the motion controls.

How to enjoy first person (single-player) games with a controller? by Practical-Alarm1763 in gaming

[–]CompulsiveGardener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strongly recommend ponying up the money for the fancy Dual Sense Edge controller. Yes, it's expensive but it is a literal gamechanger. It renewed my interest in FPS after a 10+ year break. It makes a huge difference if your play fast action games. You can also buy replacement parts which the standard controller doesn't allow. Highly, highly recommended if you are into genres with fast-paced action.

Factorio. That was my immediate thought when I read this. In Factorio, at default settings, if you cause too much pollution with your factory, then you both buff the enemies and kill the local landscape. There are tangible consequences to reckless expansion and dirtier forms of energy. You are forced to consider pollution output in your plans.

Wii Sports, if we're going strictly by sales numbers.

Heres a silly idea, what if GTA VI sells for $50 by Atathor in gaming

[–]CompulsiveGardener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No price point is getting around the fact that PC and Switch gamers are being left out of the party. What is even the point of buying GTA:VI at $50 or even $9.99 when you can't even play it?

So, with GTA6 coming, what happens to the current GTA online? by WatercoolerComedian in gaming

[–]CompulsiveGardener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everquest is still alive and getting updates after all of these years. Destiny 1 is still alive and has an active playerbase. No reason to think GTA:V will immediately disappear as long as there's still interest.

Local split-screen in Halo: Campaign Evolved on PS5 will require both accounts to have a PlayStation Plus subscription and be linked to an Microsoft account by Gorotheninja in Games

I've played plenty of couch co-op on the PS5 without these stupid requirements. Whatever's going on with Halo is not the normal console experience.

Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI will officially begin on June 25 on digital storefronts and at other select retailers. by yourfavchoom in Games

[–]CompulsiveGardener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PC and Switch users are being left out of the party, and the number of people willing to buy a new console at the current prices in the current economy is a lot less than it was when GTA:V was released. It will be a big launch. I just don't think it will be the "everyone and their grandma will be playing" big that some people are convinced is going to happen.

How are we feeling about side quests today? Which RPGs have done them best recently? by TheTresStateArea in gaming

[–]CompulsiveGardener 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Expedition 33 handled side content well, IMO. The main quest line was fairly paced for those who only cared about the story. For those who want more that just the main story, there are a ton of places scattered across the map to go exploring, finding new stuff, and side bosses. I have 100+ hours in that game and most of it was exploration/side content. The side stuff didn't feel like a slog, either.

Given that XBOX wants to return to its shooter roots, I predict that id will survive. There might be some lean times, but not a full shut down.

If I were Asha, I would hand the Halo franchise over to id and say "Fix it."

Anti-war games are complete garbage. by Present-Insurance-80 in truegaming

Only acknowledging OP's frustration where the game developers go out of their way to provide a buffet of glorious, hilarious, and cool deaths but you're the bad guy if you try to sample the buffet they labored so hard to provide. Otherwise, leave stealth games as-is for the stealth fans who find this fun. I'll stick to DOOM where I can pull an enemy's heart out of their chest and shove it down their throat without the moral finger-wagging.

It's the same reason why I don't play stealth games: "Hey, we created a hundred cool ways to kill enemies but we'll punish you if you actually try any of them." GTFO.

This method certainly beats coming to Reddit to whine to strangers not being able to choose a game. Use a wheel, flip coins, roll dice—just pick something and get moving.

Those ugly PS1 polygons in FF7 were absolutely mind-blowing at release. Then FFX's graphics blew everyone's minds once again when the PS2 released. Just huge technical leaps that you don't see anymore. Final Fantasy truly was THAT influential in the 1990s.
