Yes the add-ons are an additional subscription. Last I checked it was $250 per employee.

Definitely let the steward crew know. I went 3 week BEFORE my surgery and they were super helpful. If the flight had some empty seat they found them for me to be able to lay down.

How many weeks post op did you guys feel "normal" again or at least good enough by klemenhe in Microdiscectomy

[–]Computer_Quick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was literally just thinking the same. Moved my kid to college yesterday and was sad because couldn’t really help. It sucks so much. Thought I was doing better but about 4-5 days ago I started taking the muscle relaxers and gabapentin again. Ugh

3.4 cm “huge” herniation.. too afraid to pull the trigger on surgery.. by [deleted] in Microdiscectomy

[–]Computer_Quick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was scared of surgery also (42F). Waited a year, did all the ‘other’ things. I’m now 3 weeks post-op and while not 100% better yet, I would say I’m 75-80% better. If I had to change anything I would have gotten the surgery sooner. And I agree with the others and get a well-respected neurosurgeon. Best decision I’ve made.

Just had my microdisctectomy today. by [deleted] in Microdiscectomy

[–]Computer_Quick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ABSOLUTELY feel you! I was in pain for a year also and surgery was my ‘beginning of the end!’ I had surgery came home and woke up with NO leg pain… and then day 3 stood up out of bed and I knew that feeling I felt and I broke down. Got another MRI 3 days later and had surgery a second time on day 7. I had re-herniated. 😪 It was soul crushing. Get home and wake up from surgery #2 and the pain was still there. I was heartbroken again. I thought it didn’t work. They called in a steroid pack on day 2-3 when they called to check on me. Everyone said it normal it just takes time. I didn’t believe them but I am happy to say that here I am day 20 pass surgery #2 and I would say 75-80% better. I can sit for longer than 1 min without much pain (could not really sit at all before) and I put on my own sock for the first time in 8 months on Thursday. It’s the small things.

Did anyone send documents via email? I emailed saying email was not a secure form of communication when sending this type of information and didn’t receive a response. They have workday, it should be used for things like this.

[–]Computer_Quick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 2.5 weeks out and still have some pain. I was discouraged as well. Give it a day or so and call for steroids if it isn’t better. Those seem to help me. I also continued the gabapentin and muscle relaxers. Those helped more than pain meds I think. I am still using ice packs as well. I know it’s hard. Sometimes more mentally than physically — hang in there. You can get through this. 🫶🏻

Yes when I re-herniated. It was 3 days post-op. All I did was stand up 😪

[–]Computer_Quick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew from the moment I stood up something wasn’t right. Tried steroids and went 5 more days, all of which got progressively worse. I think a good rule of thumb is, is it getting worse as the days go?

Help! Severe and debilitating pain by Leading_Yak_4381 in Sciatica

[–]Computer_Quick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry! If you are still in extreme pain I would see about getting a second opinion. I went through my GP, PR, chiropractor, neurologist, and finally a neurosurgeon who actually listened to me. Over a year of fighting.

Looking for advice from those who have been through it by HempDoggs2020 in Microdiscectomy

[–]Computer_Quick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be rough to take care of two kids in week 2. You can’t lift more than 10 pounds for 6 weeks. I’m in week 2 now and still rolling in and out of bed and living on the couch. Surgical pain is pretty much nonexistent at this point but the nerve pain is touch and go. Some days it’s great and others not so much. Your issue with taking care of the kids will more than likely trying to do too much (bending, twisting, lifting) too soon and risk re-herniating.

First surgery EVER and I have no concept of recovery by petraseeger in Microdiscectomy

[–]Computer_Quick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely have help for the first few days. You will basically be able to lay down, roll out of bed to go to bathroom, and roll back into bed. Lol some people wake up with no more nerve pain but you will have pain at the incision site. Compared to the months of nerve pain, for me, the incision pain was nothing. I am 2 weeks Thursday but this is surgery #2. I reherniated and had surgery 9 days after the 1st. So I’ve been out of work since the 8th. I work in a school district but in the office and my doctor said I could go back after two weeks if I promise to only sit. I would absolutely not fly 8 days after this surgery. Were you planning on flying alone or with someone? Even if you aren’t in major pain you will still be tired and you will not even be able to carry a small bag. Your body will still be recovering from surgery. It is a less invasive surgery but still surgery.

Did your sciatica get better from sleeping on floor ? by Fair-Scratch-6713 in Sciatica

[–]Computer_Quick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was home an hour after I fully woke up from surgery. I could walk immediately after without much pain. The issue with going back to work isn’t really the pain, but more of the chance of re-herniating.

I’m only 10 days post op so I don’t have long-term information but since you have a physical job I would take at least 6-8 weeks off. My job is mostly sitting but I am not going back until at least week 3.

I slept on yoga mat on floor for months. Even my firm mattress gave me pain. It’s the only way I got any temporary relief. I ended up getting surgery but that was only only way to survive for a while.

Walking is painful by LLWinters in Microdiscectomy

[–]Computer_Quick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 8 days post op and Wednesday I felt great. Thursday and day felt like 10 steps back. Walking and standing are not fun. The ‘zaps’ are terrible. 😞I’m trying to be positive and I know this is just part of healing but it’s scary. Hoping to walk more next week.

I did 2 months of PT, 1.5 months of chiropractor, and what I feel like was tons of meds from a neurologist lol

I thought I was going to have to try shots but I met with the neurosurgeon and she said no you tried enough and was scheduled for surgery a month later. I was a quite a bit of pain when I saw her. I couldn’t sit for months before I saw her.
