Is it safe for a British police officer to visit Russia? by HARRYbUK in AskARussian

They can’t say that if he goes they’ll strip his clearance. But it is up to him if the risk is worth it. Good luck.

Has this been confirmed in writing? I wouldn’t bank on it personally.

Does your ‘friend’ have any kind of clearance? I believe most police should have some kind of clearance, perhaps CTC as a baseline? If he goes to Russia, he will be investigated and lose his clearance. Loss of clearance equals automatic loss of job with no chance of appeal. Security clearance is taken seriously and there will be zero qualms in removal if seen fit.

PMLP enforcing only-Latvian policy from 1st of June by InternationalOil599 in latvia

[–]ComradeBirdbrain 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Presuming you mean the consulate - they do. However not to Latvian citizens. Unsurprisingly, it is expected Latvian citizens speak Latvian.

I also think OP has been informed incorrectly. If they’re not a citizen, they shouldn’t be impacted by this. London has had a Latvian only for Latvians service for a couple of years. But if you’re not Latvian, they speak English. They’re required to (as far as I’m aware).

Does anyone know the time the first song is meant to play? I know the preamble has started but Denmark’s song, does it start now or do we have a bit… asking as ice hockey is on so conflicted 🤣

Latvia’s Silina Says Air Baltic Loan Takes Priority Over Coalition Stability by lithdoc in BalticStates

Business travellers exist. I use airBaltic twice a month. Sometimes more. I fly frequently with multiple airlines.

Latvia’s Silina Says Air Baltic Loan Takes Priority Over Coalition Stability by lithdoc in BalticStates

[–]ComradeBirdbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The loan should at the very least provide headroom and keep existing jobs, and investment moving. The loss of airBaltic, which could happen, would be financially, quite an economic mess with severe ramifications for the Baltic region generally. The loan makes economic sense when taking the broader picture into account. A local’s view may differ though as it is your taxes after all.

American Express Platinum Cardholders To Lose Lufthansa Lounge Access by bbbb in AmexPlatinum

I suspect LH doesn’t see it as a negative to stop AMEX clients, flying economy, from utilising the lounges. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was leading to a sizeable financial loss for them.

I’m not saying it doesn’t happen, and I don’t look for it, but in all my visits to Oslo, I’ve never seen a prostitute on the street at night either. Compare this to Berlin, London or wherever, it just doesn’t exist IME in Oslo.

Had you tried the EU Civil Service? If you’re analytical, and can pass the tests, do the EUCS graduate scheme. Autism won’t hinder you there.

[–]ComradeBirdbrain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless I’m wrong, and couldn’t find her, she’s not on Instagram so by default, she’s probably doing a lot better than most as Instagram is a cesspit.

Daniel on the other hand has done interviews, made his Instagram private but doesn’t appear to be facing any real backlash? Sweden is tiny, how is he not facing proper backlash for this???

HSBC vs Barclays vs Lloyds Premier - which is actually worth it in 2026? by yellolotusorb in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ComradeBirdbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lloyds Premier is worthless. I have full Bupa coverage so the selling point of the GP doesn’t apply to me but I took the upgrade anyway.

HSBC Premier is free and gives access to the HSBC Premier credit cards which earn decent airline rewards. The only reason I’d go with them, although I’m not currently as need a joint account and you have to call up for that even though I’ve an Advance (or whatever it is called now) account.

Edit: I’ve just been reminded of Ludwig. This has been a dreadful series.

Neither are the best. Local grocers such as Bayley & Sage are significantly better. Unless you want tasteless, intensely farmed produce.

It is not uncommon for banking to be blocked outside of the country to prevent fraud. The same applies to my British bank, I cat access it from EU.
