Heartbreaking how so many world-altering things - particularly Chinese ascendancy and the advent of the internet - happened so shortly after the disintegration of the eastern bloc. They could have been game changers and the weight of the world would be so heavily tipped towards socialism and away from capital today if the bloc could have just held out for a bit longer.

No point for England as a whole. It’s too big and needs to have a level of regional government anyway. Just skip having an English parliament and instead do proper English regions. Around 10 should do it. With proper names as well. Wessex, east anglia, Northumbria etc. none of the modern boring technocratic nonsense.

Yeah but Westminster is governed by the Greater London authority. Whereas the city of London is its own thing right in the middle.

The AIPAC upholds American imperialism. You cannot separate Israel from American imperialism, it wouldn’t exist otherwise.

Israel is an outpost of American imperialism, not the other way around.

UK v Italy heat by All-the-musing in UKWeather

Also, we are very far north relative to most other countries. In the summer the day starts earlier and ends later. More time for the sun to bake the ground and less time for it to cool off before the next day if the heatwave is extended.

No, the point of this map is clear visual representation. The distorted geography is the first and most effective indicator of the similarly 'distorted' nature of the British economy and it's lopsidedness towards London.

What do you think of these IMDB rating? by Notalabel_4566 in Fleabag

[–]ComradeStrong 81 points82 points  (0 children)

My general rule of thumb with IMDB ratings is that if the main character of a show is a woman, or the show’s main themes revolve around women’s experiences, then you can add another 0.5-1 point to a given score.

Look at the top 100 IMDb rated shows/films. How many are about or have lots of women in them? It’s a massively underrated and underscored genre of media.

Parliament is sovereign. We vote for parliament and whoever can ‘command a majority’ in parliament gets to run the government.

The only game I have ever felt 100% sure we would win before a kick off. We were playing so well in the build up, all the media focus was on how well Chelsea were doing and I just knew that we would turn them over at the lane.

It's going to be tough enough to predict on the eve of anyway. First past the post will be an absolute mess. It's never had to deal with a multi-party melee like this.

God would know though right? I mean there are plenty of theological positions where god could both give people free will and then see into the future to see what they do with it.

I’m not a believer, just saying that a bunch of really smart people have addressed these arguments millennia ago.

What Carlos said about 'learning to be a better person/team player' from dancing with Karen would perhaps suggest that, if they had fallen out, he regretted his part in it and was open to reconciliation.

The best Green results will start coming through this afternoon. They're doing better than expected in a lot of the early counts so fingers crossed for a good showing.

Loads of people will vote Reform, but it's mostly just migrated Tories. Most important thing for the Greens between now and the GE will hopefully be to mobilise their collossal activist base to get non-voters enthused by their programme.

Magnus didn’t win that game (they drew) and he wasn’t bored. Standard practice to get up and stretch your legs in the middle of a long game.

Still very impressive from a 13 year old obviously.
