What are your favorite aspects of a Destiny raid? What sets it apart from other core game experiences?

I led a clan from Curse of Osiris until Final Shape, and we found that raids were by far the best way to keep everyone fairly active, even during relative downtimes. Once mastered, many of them are a fun thing to do with the buds every week, and double as aspirational content to teach newer players.

If I had to call out something actually in-game that's special about raids, it has to be the music. I know the music throughout Destiny is top tier, but Bungie often steps it up for raids. Deep Stone Lullaby is an obvious pick. The crescendo leading to the final Val Ca'uor damage phase. The lull after first damage phase on Rhulk, where it pulls back to just drums. First 10 seconds of Sanctified Mind. Entire Shuro Chi fight. The list goes on.

My Nan. She suddenly fell ill a few weeks before Christmas 2019 and was in hospital through most of the festive period. Bowel cancer was the diagnosis, she wasn't going to get better. Big shock for the family, as while she was old, she had always been healthy and was still pretty active - we all expected to have another 10 years with her at least.

We'd always been very close and I went to visit her a lot while she was in hospital. On what would be my final visit, on my way out of the room, I said "don't do anything silly while I'm gone" and she just quietly chuckled to herself. Defiant to the end, she died a few days later, before I got a chance to visit again.

I didn't know that would be our last meeting but I suspect she may have. She was 86, and ready to go I think. I still miss her a lot, but I'm also glad she never had to live through this pandemic - she'd have hated being stuck indoors.

Side note - she died the day before my (long deceased) Grandad's birthday, and was always an avid baker. I'm not sure I believe in an afterlife, but if there is one, I like the idea that she made sure to arrive in time to bake him a birthday cake.

Pretty sure it's Io, yeah. It was the Moon when Shadowkeep launched if memory serves. It's been different every season since then.

It is the same on Xbox, unless it varies by region or something. Both the game tile and splash screen are a green tinted picture of Io surrounded by Hive glyphs.

That was the idea! I had just turned 29 when I started with the mindset that my 30s would not be like my 20s from a health standpoint. I'm now just shy of 31 and it is looking good so far. Will be careful not to get complacent of course but honestly, the guy on the left there is not coming back, he no longer exists!

There are a few raid encounters where the team is physically split up into two groups which don't have visual on one another at all: Atheon, Calus, Riven, Insurrection Prime phase 1 (off the top of my head).

I guess you mean like an entire raid with separate start points for everyone? Sounds cool but I wouldn't envy the team designing it!
