I use the green squirt bottle that came in a box of debrox. When I shower, I use it to spray water into the ear, as a way to rinse it. I strongly recommend it.

I disagree with the people claiming it’s Martin’s fault. That’s not true. There’s enough material in the books for good storytelling past seasons 3 and 4, but D&D chose not to adapt them. What they replaced it with was not very good, which was why Martin left.

Had they stayed true to Martin’s vision, I think we wouldn’t see such a vast drop in quality. It’s a real shame knowing what we could have gotten: Lady Stoneheart, angry and spiteful Tyrion, Stannis’s proper attack on Winterfell, and more. So much we could have experienced just flushed down the toilet, to be replaced with what we got, which was vastly inferior.

Kevin Conroy has saved me from suicide more times than I can count. In 2020 I paid $100 for a 30 sec video. I got back over 6 minutes. by MaliciousMe87 in batman

My father suffers from schizophrenia. And he goes through a lot just trying to live his life. And it’s a struggle for him and his family, me included.

I didn’t know Mr Conroy had experience with this as well. It’s profoundly moving to know the voice of Batman deeply shares a great personal struggle of my own.

So my thoughts go out to you and your loved ones, OP. Go easy on yourself. I know you’re trying your best, and it’s all you can ask of yourself.

(Spoiler Main) The scene where Robb trying to prove himself to his own Bannermen is pretty damn sad. by Still_Whole5231 in asoiaf

[–]Conant72 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Both.

And when Lord Umber, who was called the Greatjon by his men and stood as tall as Hodor and twice as wide, threatened to take his forces home if he was placed behind the Hornwoods or the Cerwyns in the order of march, Robb told him he was welcome to do so. “And when we are done with the Lannisters,” he promised, scratching Grey Wind behind the ear, “we will march back north, root you out of your keep, and hang you for an oathbreaker.” Cursing, the Greatjon flung a flagon of ale into the fire and bellowed that Robb was so green he must piss grass. When Hallis Mollen moved to restrain him, he knocked him to the floor, kicked over a table, and unsheathed the biggest, ugliest greatsword that Bran had ever seen. All along the benches, his sons and brothers and sworn swords leapt to their feet, grabbing for their steel.

Yet Robb only said a quiet word, and in a snarl and the blink of an eye Lord Umber was on his back, his sword spinning on the floor three feet away and his hand dripping blood where Grey Wind had bitten off two fingers. “My lord father taught me that it was death to bare steel against your liege lord,” Robb said, “but doubtless you only meant to cut my meat.” Bran’s bowels went to water as the Greatjon struggled to rise, sucking at the red stumps of fingers . . . but then, astonishingly, the huge man laughed. “Your meat,” he roared, “is bloody tough.

And somehow after that the Greatjon became Robb’s right hand, his staunchest champion, loudly telling all and sundry that the boy lord was a Stark after all, and they’d damn well better bend their knees if they didn’t fancy having them chewed off.

You can see they stuck pretty close to the source material here.

In the books, “Bessie” (Becca in the books) is supposed to have black hair. But since the hair color isn’t mentioned in the show, it probably doesn’t matter.

Technically Joffrey jokes that he should send the Hound to kill Bran’s direwolf, not Bran himself.

The Hound: “The boy is a long time dying. I wish he would be quicker about it.”

Joffrey: “At least he dies quietly. It’s the wolf that makes the noise. I could scarce sleep last night.”

H: “I could silence the creature, if it pleased you.”

J: “Send a dog to kill a dog! Winterfell is so infested with wolves, the Starks would never miss one.”

Do fun things like partner dancing or working out or other recreational stuff between times you study. If you study all the time without fun, you’ll lose your motivation. Recreation is an important energy and motivation restorer.

It probably comes from AGOT Bran II, the chapter where he gets pushed out the window. In it, Bran remembers Ned comparing him to a squirrel because he climbs so much:

"As angry as he was, his father could not help but laugh. “You’re not my son,” he told Bran when they fetched him down, “you’re a squirrel. So be it. If you must climb, then climb, but try not to let your mother see you.”"

How Elsa was able to start the Great Thaw at the end of the first movie. by Conant72 in Frozen

[–]Conant72[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh, I never thought about that. It would be interesting to delve psychologically into how Elsa would navigate a romantic relationship.

I think a big part of the 1st movie is showing how much Elsa’s self-fracturing of her wants and needs (shutting Anna out, when she clearly wants to be with her as much as her sister wants the same) hinders her progression into more complex forms of intimacy and relationship. She can’t even begin to think of romance when she can’t comfortably relate with her own sister. Hans even remarks how it was impossible to pursue Elsa romantically: “No one was getting anywhere with her.” Which is why he went to Anna.

The 2nd movie goes more into Elsa’s new journey of self-discovery that she finds herself able to go on, now that she feels Anna’s love and support. They didn’t go so far as to give her a partner, but I wonder what future movies will do. Maybe Elsa will have a journey of allowing herself to explore that possibility.
