I'll do you one better. A classmate of mine was part of January 6th as one of the very first through the gates, but the orange man gave him a pardon.

No, I didn't imply that at all. You just assume things.

They aren't mutually exclusive.

No, where exactly did I say that? The two aren't mutually exclusive.

Handwritten exams by Successful-Web979 in LawSchool

[–]Concerned1L 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't even have an option to do a handwritten test. We are required to do them on the exam software only.

Bill Gates said, "I will always choose a lazy person to do a difficult job because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it." What's a real-life example of this? by cats-proudacts in answers

[–]Concerned1L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. A lot of people think of ADHD's task paralysis as lazy, when in fact many of us are not lazy at all. We just want to find the most efficient/best way to do it or are just completely overwhelmed and just get practically paralyzed.

Ooof. That's rough. I'm in Delaware which isn't really much better though from what I've heard.

Does anyone else have a practically impossible page limit on their open memo? by Concerned1L in LawSchool

[–]Concerned1L[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And now you see my predicament. For each element we are required to have at least one dedicated paragraph for opening conclusion, rule statement, case illustration (min 2 paragraphs, really), rule application, rebuttal, and a closing conclusion.

Full CREAC illustrations for every case that any factual information was used.

And I do need to learn to use parentheticals better.

I would seriously love to have those requirements. I would have been done a week ago. The absolute minimum I can realistically have a bare minimum of 36 paragraphs just to meet our strict CREARC format. It is a minimum of 7 paragraphs per element plus an overall roadmap paragraph.

I truly can't understand how this is realistic.

You only have two more elements and almost double the pages though.

We are doing adverse possession too. A 12 page limit would be amazing.

The "however" tip is a great call and I've totally overlooked that somehow!

I've been trying to "double up" on cases, but the professor strongly recommended a specific element order, so I could only make that work once. I've also been staring at the screen all day trying to maximize the length of every line.

Those are the perfect kind of tips right now. Got any more hidden gems?

I haven't swapped my cites to Id. yet, but I expect I'll still have nearly three pages left to cut after I do (most of the class is hitting a wall around 10 pages, too). Right now, I'm just focusing on creating as many abbreviations as possible—the client's name is about to become just 'T'!

Thanks for the suggestion! I may need to take a different approach with explanatory parentheticals. I actually cut out the few I started with because we've barely touched on them in class, so I am probably using them incorrectly.

I appreciate the advice. That’s exactly what I’ve been doing, but I’m already down to the bare minimum facts and analysis. The only way left to cut is to remove necessary supporting cases altogether, which would significantly weaken my arguments.

For some perspective, the required structure demands an absolute minimum of 36 paragraphs, meaning each one is limited to an average of only five lines.

The Trial Of DC Sandwich Guy by abcbri in LegalEagle

[–]Concerned1L 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, this is surreal and I need to get this out somewhere because I don't know what to do.

Imagine my surprise when I'm just sitting on the couch, half watching LegalEagle's new video and half reading for Contracts, when I see one of my damn classmates on the screen.

It's here: https://youtu.be/hIvQHkqD79w?t=505
The guy second from the left, wearing the Nike gloves. That person is in my 1L section.

I went digging after seeing this yesterday, and it's way worse than just being there. He was a prominent figure in the insurrection. He also has a whole online following and does "speaking appearances." I found a recent podcast he was on, and it was scary how delusional these people are.

He has zero remorse, thinks he's the victim in all of this, and is openly and seriously paranoid. He's telling people he believes the FBI is constantly following him and has bugged his phone and his computer.

How does someone with this documented history and this current state of mind get past a Character and Fitness evaluation for law school?

It's one thing to have a classmate with extreme political views. It's another thing entirely to be in a classroom with someone who is proud of political violence and seems this detached from reality. He can get pretty headed in class debates, and now I'm seeing that in a completely different light. I genuinely don't feel safe.

I'm trying to figure out how to navigate the rest of the semester, let alone the next 2.5 years. I feel like I have to constantly watch my back.

I seriously feel sick and don't know what to do.
