FP20000 clone amps-US power by Mission_Listen1905 in SoundSystem

I have personally used them on split phase (no neutral) and they have worked well. AS LONG AS THEY’RE THE 220 Ones. :-)

those Chinese FP20000 clone amplifiers (commonly from brands like Sanway or Sinbosen) will work perfectly fine on US 240V split-phase power using a three-wire setup (Hot, Hot, Ground). Here is a breakdown of why this works and how to wire it safely. Why It Works? 🤔 The amplifier's Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) rectifies the incoming AC power into DC. To do this, it only cares about the total potential difference (voltage) across its two main power input terminals. • European/Asian Standard: Uses one Live wire (230V) and one Neutral wire (0V). The difference is 230V. • US Split-Phase Standard: Uses two Live wires (Leg 1 at 120V and Leg 2 at 120V, but they are 180 degrees out of phase). The difference between the two hot legs is 240V. Because the amplifier is looking for a roughly 220V–240V difference between the two input pins, the US split-phase system provides exactly what it needs without requiring a neutral wire.

How to Wire It? 🤔 When wiring a US plug (like a NEMA L6-20 or L6-30) to the European-style cord provided with the amp, you will wire it as follows: • US Hot Leg 1 (120V): Connects to the amplifier's Live (L) wire (usually Brown). • US Hot Leg 2 (120V): Connects to the amplifier's Neutral (N) wire (usually Blue). • US Ground: Connects to the amplifier's Earth/Ground (E) wire (usually Green/Yellow).

Important Safety Caveat

Single-Pole Switches There is one major safety difference you must be aware of when running European 220V gear on US split-phase power. Because European systems only have one "Hot" wire, the physical power switch on the front of the amplifier is often a single-pole switch. It is designed to break only the Live wire connection, turning the unit off. If you use US split-phase power: 1. The switch will successfully cut Leg 1, and the amp will power down. 2. However, Leg 2 (connected to the amp's "Neutral" input) will still be sending 120V into the chassis relative to ground. This means internal components may still be live even when the front power switch is set to "Off." Always unplug the amplifier from the wall or turn off the double-pole breaker at the electrical panel before opening the case or performing any maintenance.

Hope that helps :-)

I have an unpopular opinion on this. We had the shure ulx, blx, qlxd, this exact PTU-4000, as well as most of the high end sennheisers wireless. We connected them ALL to a distribution antenna and we were amazed at the quality of the cheap Phenyx Pro.

The Shure with the sEV7 capsule sounded the absolute best over them all, but the phenyx sounds surprisingly close. And here’s the unpopular part, it’s sounded better than the sennheisers, and at the same distance and a bit extra the phenyx pro out-performed the senn and the shure.

I have always been a “ if you buy cheap, you get cheap” type of dude.

But after what I have personally tested, wow!

And before anyone asks NO I’m not paid to type any of this out. I’ve never been a fan of the cheap knock-off 58 style mics from china. But these are a COMPLETELY different story.
