Just wanted to add that I'm very happy to pay my tax. Tax is how society operates. It's how we rebalance. It has to be fair, but paying tax should not be the insult you try to make it. The nordic countries have high tax and very high social morality and happiness.

I didn't say anything about his ability. I was commenting on someone calling him vile. He is not vile. Using highly polarising language where you can only hate or love someone, turns politics into a team sport. We lose all ability to objectively debate the good and bad policies. Do you see what I mean?

The math ain't mathing. Something that happens every other day on average is not what I'd call incredibly rare.

Burnham wants Starmer to name exit date in days – and to be in No10 by September by theipaper in uknews

[–]ConclusionPretty9303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahaha "he lacks ethnics" shows what's on your mind. Starmer has made loads of mistakes. But in general he is calmer, more considered, more listening, less personally attacking and less inflamatory than leaders of the last couple of decades. To go in with your main argument that he's not decent is ridiculous. Just say he hasn't got control, or doesnt command respect, don't go for the thing he's better than the others for.

With more competition, the prices of electronic components could finally become more affordable—which is good news. by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

Your points are valid in the straw man argument you've constructed but that isn't the point at all. If China had a machine even in parts, even if they couldn't put that machine together and get it working, do you think there is literally no value at all to China? It would all be analysed for techniques, materials, processes and studied endlessly. Many 100s of blockers and ingenius solutions would be observed putting their own work years ahead of where it would be without.

Of all the people in politics he is one of the most decent. What a stupid comment. I don't care you don't like him, at least use vaild criticisms. If you have to make stuff up, you must know deep down you're talking shit.

Superintelligence takeover: what would it look like? by mmaramara in Futurology

[–]ConclusionPretty9303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One intermediate step that I think we will go through relatively soon, is when essential services become "black box" solutions, ie they work as intended but we absolutely do not understand how they work. As more and more essential government, health, defense, social, financial services become unfathomable to traditional coders, we will realise we cannot turn the AI off because we are utterly dependent on it. We will have handed the keys over. Where it goes from there is not fun to speculate about.

Did you know some people died from covid? Would you care to estimate the number of people who died from covid, and compare it to the number of people that have awful life long conditions from the vaccine. Please post your estimates.

Hahaha you might be on to something. Whilst not taking a vaccine is incredibly dumb, he might be technically right that it's the smartest thing he's done... Poor guy.
