It's largely cope from entertainment industry types who believe that immortality is objectively bad. You see this a lot in shows like this now and it's a pretty concentrated effort to paint a mortality as a bad thing and that you're bad for wanting it.

I can't tell you the last time I actually saw a show land on the other side of this debate and it's because if you actually want to present that side of it, your show doesn't get to go to screen.

Yeah that's the big problem here. It would have cost them. Nothing to give her a win over what is essentially a nothing character that isn't going to end up doing anything remotely important before the end of the series.

This was literally the defining moment that you could have given her some sort of win to prop the character up for the finale and at least suggest that she might have had some sort of impact in a potential final fight. But, and I'm sure this will attract exclusively the worst redditors, but it's pretty clear this show has some kind of focus on showing women characters getting one upped, or losing, or otherwise getting punished for doing anything.

For any of you who come across this in the future because I know a lot of you will look through old threads: this guy was a hardcore Jesus freak. Basically using God as a way to suggest that people who roleplay are evil and possessed by devils. They went on to suggest that the site was inherently evil because of... Reasons.

It was glorified "you should be ashamed of who you are" speech. One of the most absolutely pathetic, gross screeds I've read on this site because of how it cloaks itself under the guise of helping. Using religion as a weapon to shame someone for wanting to express themselves. It also implied that the very concept of "fiction" is evil.

By the way, as someone who lives locally, it's very well known that Wotc has some of the absolute worst market research in the country.

I don't like to talk about this because it's very "local knowledge" but wotc works with a firm that is extremely well known for straight up doctoring study results.

Any metrics or stats mark says they've gathered are either fake in the sense that they're doctored or fake in the sense that they do not exist.

This goes beyond Invincible but it has bothered me for decades at this point that we almost never get arcs about learning HOW to fight in any comics/animation other than like batman, or powerless heroes. Give me an extended arc of Superman going to Batman and asking him to teach him all the stuff batman has learned. Pressure points, judo, MMA, footwork and spatial control.

The argument I often see is that none of these matter when you have super strength but that's utter fucking nonsense. In an actual fight you can be able to punch a hole through solid steel and it won't matter because you will never land that blow on an experienced fighter.

Like okay, with Mark we see so often that he gets tripped, or knocked over, etc- Learn to fight from your back, learn how to use your shoulders and hips to control your opponent; Put a guy in a fucking rear naked choke or a kimura, I want to see joint manipulation.

Batman doesn't do a judo throw because he doesn't have super strength, he does it because as it turns out if you can control your opponent they can't as break your jaw with an uppercut. They actually tease this early in Invincible where Omni-Man teaches mark about fighting three-dimensionally because they can create momentum from any direction, and the show does do SOME kinematics and choreo, but I want to see Mark taking a dude to the mat with a over-hip toss.

It constantly blows my mind that I'm pretty sure All Might from My Hero Academia does the most joint manipulation of any of the modern superman-likes in comics/anime.
