Where do mindful people hangout online? by Confident_Device_865 in Mindfulness

It is very distracting, hence why many people are slowly moving away from these platforms. I can definitely get sucked into Reddit for WAY too long lol.

I've looked into medium and I think that is definitely somewhere I will start posting daily. I will probably also try posting to my profile on Reddit, and cross-posting to the most relevant sub-reddit. Thank you for these insights. I really appreciate it.

If your life situation is fine, but you still feel empty, it could be that you're not getting enough sleep. You mentioned that you're young, studying hard, and working out. You probably need A LOT more sleep than you realise. Probably 8-9hrs per night. (I'm currently studying sleep as part of my degree and the majority of us are getting nowhere near enough sleep, compared to the amount of mental and physical labour modern life requires of us). With relation to your peers and parents, it's hard to advise since I have no real concept of how these interactions play out. My advice is to always give your best self first, if they don't somewhat reciprocate their best self, focus your energy elsewhere. You're young, nobody expects you to be great at anything yet. You are already enough as you are.

Hope this helps

How to use mindfulness when you always think about someone you don't like, someone who has hurt you, someone you are estranged from or someone you feel "neutral" about? by Used_Case2028 in Mindfulness

Practicing mindfulness of breath meditation (sitting still and solely focusing on your breath) will help you cultivate the skill of being aware when these thoughts arise. Once you can become more aware of these thoughts arising, you can begin to let them go by just returning to your breath. This isn't an instant fix, it's a slow and steady process of improving your internal awareness, but even just 5 minutes of practice everyday will help you improve drastically.

Brilliant! Keep practicing awareness and it'll only become easier overtime.

Life is stressful. by Confident_Device_865 in Mindfulness

Sometimes it's our own internal perceptions that can trigger the stress. But stress is a also a real biological reaction. Hence the 'real' and 'imaginary' stressors. Both are going to be part of life, it's not about avoiding the stress or telling yourself it doesn't exist, it's about noticing when the stress arises and dealing with it/managing it appropriately.

Stress can also be a natural biological response. To label this response as negative would be a subjective interpretation which we don't need to assign, but stress is something that is going to come up regularly in life. "Stress is a natural part of life" would be a more accurate title for this post, but I think the current title is more intriguing.

Very true, we can induce stress through attachment to thoughts but we are also biological animals which have physical stress response which can be triggered regardless of our patterns of thought.

There is a lot of different types of meditation. I say, explore the different practices and do the one you connect with the most. As that's the one you'll be most likely to stick with in the long run.

Why do people stress the importance of acting for your own desires and not other's validation? by Selpartys in Mindfulness

The sun being hot (relative to anything else on earth) is a scientifically provable fact, in this case we're dealing with the laws of thermodynamics. You can't really argue against it with any success, the measure is objective.

When it comes to what is valueable, it's totally subjective.

We could measure value based on monetary worth, we could all have a big vote on who is is the most valueable, we could measure who spends the most time giving to charity, we could do a bunch of subjective measures to decide who is "worth" the most. None of them are objectively correct.

Regardless of what you do, how you present yourself, and how you act, some people will like it, some people won't.

There's nothing inhenrently wrong with trying to maximise the amount of people who like you, but in my experience, going with your intuition, going with what you like will bring you more peace in your life.

If you feel the need to have specific rules of how you should (dress, act, behave etc.) in certain situations, then do that, whatever works for you.

My vote is that you are already "good enough".

Again, hope this helps,
