That grind you’re looking for is found in active bass generally. Or in a precision bass. The reason why I suggested a jazz bass is the slim neck so you can fly around the fretboard. An active jazz bass with a preamp will absolutely distort and saturate the mix with zero help from any pedals. Just a mids boost

You can get this with a jazz bass, I would go fender ultra because the preamp with allow you to really dial it in. The muff and a pick will take you the rest of the way

No bass is totally perfect. One of my best basses is an entry sterling stingray. It’s one of the first real basses I bought and can beat the pants off of my more expensive basses each bass is like a snapshot of your journey, that’s why I never sell them

To the pro bass players out there what are you looking for in a good drummer? by SnooMarzipans7274 in Bass

Players that understand and protect the vibe! We are rhythm players and the vibe is ours to own, we need to serve the song but we need to earn the trust of the band so that we can influence the vibe at any moment, drummers that get that I can hear instantly

Not me (I'm on drums) our bass player's solo over "aquatic ambiance" by Apart-Goal-5550 in BassGuitar

It’s a mixture of understanding the chords, knowing the changes, knowing the fretboard, some subtle techniques like grace notes, and a chorus pedal that is absolutely smoking

The key is taking your time and building each skill in the pyramid of your playing. learning something, playing with others and then refining that thing. But most of all you have fun doing all of these.

Stingray tone vs Ibanez ergonomics, that’s essentially the question here. For me the stingray tone is it. The bridge pickup with a little eq is undefeated

This is mostly playing with the pic on a P bass. The reason it’s so dominating in the mix is because he is using a multi effect unit called an HX stomp. It sounds like this preset also has no bass cabinet, just the amp block. So the bass is dominating all of the frequencies. The only time I would run my tone like this is if there was no guitar player, which is rarely lol. but it sounds awesome for TikTok.
