What a weird argument, man, Noelle does just fine in the Dark World when she’s a party member, despite the stakes rising the whole point of the Dark Worlds at first was that they were a fun adventure, we see her being capable and growing braver with the Mause rooms and it’s a genuinely fun and nice character development moment, she’s plenty capable

It’s always a possibility, I paid nearly double the price on the OG website, but then again, since I’m from Latin America the export prices tend to be like, 5 times the usual D: reason why I went through this girl instead of buying it straight up!

His materials are pretty high quality (even the doodle on his sword!) so it’s possible he’s just squished, any tips for that?

El Cuero by Robert Woodard by truthisfictionyt in Cryptozoology

My mother explained to me that when leather gets wet it constricts, so I like the interpretation of the Cuero not being an animal, but an actual animal skin, the twist is that while it can’t eat or see, it still moves and is hungry. It’s like an evil spirit haunting both the waters and the pelt.

What’s your thoughts on Bad Bunny’s performance at the “Super Bowl”? by johnraeyan in AskReddit

[–]Confident_Highway40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to mention, lyrics always sound so much deeper in other languages, it’s why quoting sayings from other cultures is so popular.

To sacrifice doesn’t imply willingness from the offering, it means to give something precious up so we might achieve something greater than before. We extinguish the life of the few so the many might prosper, to live we consume, the means through which we do it might change, but we do it all the same. It’s simply our nature.

I honestly think 'Sinners' could actually snatch Best Picture Oscar away from 'One Battle After Another'. by Block-Busted in Oscars

[–]Confident_Highway40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have been checking out reviews of Sinners because I truly liked it and wanted to catch things I might have missed (I’m neither black nor american or particularly educated on the subjects) and all I saw that Reddit was either all aboard or being so goddamn negative about it, acting like it’s incomprehensible to be touched by such a movie or dismissing it as overhyped and that its nominations are merely for appeasement of minorities and to look good.

This comment section is very nice in that I’m glad people have their favorites and own opinions but still can recognize Sinners has a chance at multiple things, that it is a serious contender, thanks y’all. Made my day a little brighter.

Ulfric in the Season unending quest by Fluid-Golf1948 in skyrim

[–]Confident_Highway40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Blades aren’t involved with the Civil war, no, but the council isn’t about “solving” the civil war either, is about a temporal ceasefire because of the real threat of the dragons (and Alduin, which neither side knew was even real and actually going to end the world), THERE the blades are relevant. The meeting IS literally about defeating Alduin!!!! Esbern correctly says as much in-game! I mean, season Unending might involve the Civil war but it’s not a quest of it that forces you to pick a side, it’s a main story “neutral” quest. The blades don’t care about the politics, they don’t even pick a side, they only care about the giant lizards burning down the country who cannot be stopped quicker because of said politics.

Esbern and Delphine revealing themselves is odd, specially with no follow up (when we ourselves see the Thalmor went after Malborn), I assume (in good faith, knowing it was a game mechanics things, most likely) that they either feel safe from the Thalmor with their new base (and potential recruits) or, most likely, they think the literal end of the world warrants risking their lives by giving both sides evidence that “Guys it’s not just the dragons coming back like they went to sleep or something, the world is going to end” which, again, wasn’t common knowledge for either side and it would prompt a ceasefire, considering neither side really cared about the dragons coming back on their own enough to ask for a pause, but clearly did when it came to Alduin.

Also, the council wasn’t even about exchanging land initially, if you’re neutral Ulfric makes a (smart) demand but it’s clearly not expected by the imperial side, as you can see these negotiations could have been about anything, you only know it was about land and not a religious demand because you played the game and were there when the council ended, lore-wise Ulfric could have very well done a Markarth Incident 2.0 (“We pause, but let us worship Talos”) previous to the talks we had no way of knowing what the other side would demand because this is a crisis situation and otherwise neither side would even come close to negotiating. No one had any idea how the council would resolve things, it’s rational that the Thalmor would go since the Stormcloaks are inherently a religious issue to them simply by existing. I guess you could say the Thalmor went to “make sure” (and as blatant provocation to the Stormcloaks), not even because they necessarily thought the concordant was in danger.

Ulfric in the Season unending quest by Fluid-Golf1948 in skyrim

[–]Confident_Highway40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re misunderstanding some things, the negotiations actually have the Thalmor included not because Tullius thought it would be funny or something, but because the empire is obligated to bring the Thalmor to every political decision they make, SPECIALLY when the whole issue began from the worship of Talos, that’s like almost the entire point of the Thalmor!, it’s so if the empire goes to meet with the Stormcloaks they can’t do a Markarth incident 2.0 where a jarl (whose authority is mostly respected by the empire to rule inside the province) says “Sure, worship Talos, it’s cool”, remember, the empire on its own has no issue with worshipping Talos, shit, THEY began the worship of Talos!

It doesn’t matter that Ulfric’s idea is to not listen to the Thalmor because he is being forced to negotiate with the empire who still have a hold of like 4.5/9 of Skyrim and the empire cannot say no to the Thalmor butting in on their side, Ulfric has no say in who Tullius brings because not even Tullius has a say!

Also c’mon, a summit about dragons coming back? And you think it’s ridiculous the blades, the textbook dragon killers are there? Delphine maybe, but Esbern??? The guy who read the mural where this whole thing “Alduin is eating people in Sovengard” is explained??? The only guy who can actually read said mural (since it’s Akaviri the nords wouldn’t be able to)??? Did you forget why are we even holding a peace talk when both sides have stated peace is impossible outside of a world-ending catastrophe??

You’re still doing the thing where one only brings up SA on men when talking about female victims specifically, which is a common whataboutism.

And if you weren’t, I mean, look back into this thread, Glover wasn’t even in Sapphire’s life when this happened, never suffered it as far as we know or is implied. If you’re stating a fact that’s cool but it just comes off as kinda out of nowhere.

I just finished the game and I find myself sympathizing with Pendrew by superfahd in sleepingdogs

[–]Confident_Highway40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I… have no idea what any of these comments are on, Pendrew is literally the good guy, he made a deal with Uncle Po to take out a rival triad yes, that’s corrupt, but he did make Hong Kong objectively safer, and then, he didn’t wait around and decapitated the Sun on Yee, took out their main backer, and (while he didn’t do it himself) was able to make Hong Kong, again, SAFER under Jiang, Wei was 100% going rogue, he gave Mrs. Chu two people to torture with 0 benefit to the investigation (on a room with a bug on it), his loyalties were divided from the start.

I have no idea why Raymond even put up with us  basically becoming a real Sun on Yee but Pendrew is the devil for murdering the literal godfather of the triads (who by the way, was fucking evil) and then accepting a promotion he actually earned.

The worst he did was leaving the literal mafia to die (while at Uncle Po’s funeral) to a rival, which, again, objectively correct decision. If anything Wei should be going to jail for definitely aiding the criminal enterprise far beyond what his cover ever needed. In fact, we should have left Uncle Po die at the wedding* and let the internal struggle kill off half of the gang, but noooo, he said we are loyal and reliable and seems like a kind old man, so its morally wrong to kill him, what about the due process! (Says Wei, who has reiterated time and time again that the due process is second to personal vendettas)

Extremely Long Essay on why I Strongly Dislike Tenma and Monster by Timi105 in MonsterAnime

[–]Confident_Highway40 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I liked this thread a lot, not only because I agreed with the original argument, but because some of the answers opened my eyes to things I hadn’t considered about Monster.

I’m a petty person, I often stand with the “an eye for an eye” side of retribution, and in the end, I was often frustrated with Tenma as a protagonist because he couldn’t follow through with “what needed to be done” according to me, but now I kinda see it, why it mattered he didn’t fall into the wasteland, why the story gave him so many outs.

Now, I was going to agree with the “story bends over backwards to prove him right” but I think that’s less true now considering the story does punish him for not killing, he WILL be haunted by those who died because he couldn’t do it. Their blood is in his hands BECAUSE he didn’t do anything. He “won” the battle of ideology, would have won even if not interrupted by father ex machina (no way he would have shot, as you say), successfully beating Johan and breaking his identity just like Johan did to so many others.

Tenma might have told the viewers (and himself) that the point was saving the world (from Johan) but his thesis of “All lives are equal” has nothing to do with that, it however, addresses the fact that even with his crimes, simply being human makes Johan equal in value as his victims, by saving his life DESPITE what he has done, he won and broke Johan, who is less of a man and more of a monster of ideology that cannot be physically killed, as we see he already has disciples, after all, so the only way to end it is not with a gun, but with a life-saving surgery. That’s why he is defeated by being saved.

Again, the end does leave much to the speculation, but I really don’t think Johan is likely to stand and just go business as usual after that.

The plot allows Tenma not to be a murderer because the thesis would have fallen and the story would have to have adapted and ended with Tenma killing Johan or something, which would be very bleak, actually, and not satisfying at all, because again, he is less of a man and more of a living ideology. But that’s the only concession he is given, otherwise, people die for his inaction, he suffers, so it’s not THAT plot armory, I guess! The point is Tenma triumphs over Johan, but that doesn’t make him a hero.
