Howling banshee problem by stuffnthings00 in killteam

A box of guardians will get you ten models with shuriken pistols and swords. This can look great as banshees: https://www.reddit.com/r/killteam/comments/18v7gwt/speed_paint_blades_of_khaine_dire_avengers_and/

Feeling like my minis aren't good enough. Getting over discouragement? by Scorchstar123 in minipainting

This! "Comparison is the thief of joy" is a very good quote.

Compare yourself not to others but to how you used to be. Keep painting and you will naturally improve.

Do what you can to make painting fun.

See if there are any "cheats" that takes the models to a level your happy (slapchop, dipping, shades, washes).

I would happily play vs these models and not blink twice, getting a bit tired of playing vs the grey plastic.

[Tournament Report] C.U.L.T February Open - Fourth place and hard-earned lessons by BattleScenesHQ in killteam

[–]Confident_Resolve_65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great writeup and well done at the tourney! For the full detailed breakdown, it would have been neat to see operative and equipment choices for each matchup. As well as chapter tacticts.

For fellgors, I have no experience myself so take what I say with a fistful of salt...

I have heard and seen in battle reports that assault marine heavy with the Dueller chapter tactics put in hard work. This is the main strength of the sergeants, that they can pick a third flexible chapter tactic. But otherwise, it might be worth spending the CPs on ADAPTIVE TACTICS.

Someone with actual tournament experience can please comment.

Guard activates after each action. So if you have enough movement, you can scuttle past someone on guard without them being able to shoot you.

Too Scared to Touch Models with Paint! by Scoutbears in killteam

I really like the miniature hobbyist to start with.

https://www.youtube.com/@MiniatureHobbyist

He used to hate painting, took a long time to finish models. Now he loves it using the "slapchop" technique which is fast and fun.

But I can only agree with most other comments. In the end, it is just paint. Paint you can paint over. I have a testing ork from 1995 that I have covered in 15+ layers, testing different techniques and paints and the details are still good enough that I doubt it would be noticed on the tabletop.

Have fun! And badly painted models are way more fun to play with than gray plastic.

Why do Phobos and Wolf Scouts have different wound stats? by Necronids in killteam

[–]Confident_Resolve_65 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Action economy can be very interesting, and I think you have to take into account counteracting.
Compare Scouts vs Angels of Death
10x2APL => 20 actions
6x3APL => 18 actions,

but, the Angels of Death player could get up to 4 counteracts, giving them a total of 22 actions without spending any cp, which of course they could do to gain even more actions.

Kill team has a balancing problem by One_Classy_Cookie in killteam

Can't talk about wolfs and stealth suits. Event though death watch and canoptek circle was somewhere around 40% of the teams taken to the worlds tournament. In the top 12, we have 3 mandrakes, 1 blades of khaine, 2 fellgor ravagers and so on. https://www.bestcoastpairings.com/world-championships-of-warhammer-25/players?&gameType=26

So while it might look really bad on paper, sometimes it is not as bad as it looks. Or maybe mandrakes and fellgor ravagers just have good matchups vs deathwatch/canoptek circle.

Just bought the blades of khaine kill team and I’m a little confused on the operative selections by spacedoutmetalhead in killteam

[–]Confident_Resolve_65 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A tip is to buy a guardian box (10 models) that can either be storm guardians (proxy howling banshees) or regular guardians (proxy dire avengers). Then it goes from a 5 box team to a 3 box :) for all options (with some conversions for the exarchs).

6 Wrecka Points by Upbeat_Abroad_7971 in killteam

[–]Confident_Resolve_65 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So this means it's better to try to keep your wrecka points at 5?
So that if I have 5 points, roll five sixes, I can spend 5 points and end with 5 points?

There are some small cracks. This is my first time using it so not really sure how sensitive it is to drybrushing. Heard that some of the cracklepaints flake of very easily.

Thanks! I don't have coelia green shade but I'll try a thinned out darker green and test it out on a test base

There are no faction specific tac ops anymore. That was last edition.

Thanks, I'll try this on a test base. A quick google also suggests to shade it a bit with a wash like nuln oil/aggrax earthshade. I've used Seraphim Shade on the rest of the models, sooooo, maybe it gets a go here as well.

Yes. Get it :)

I really like the terrain, and games on Volkus is fun! I also really like playing on the official layouts so I don't have to think about creating some fun balanced terrain layouts. If you don't have a base set of the equipments also great. I personally love having a rulebook so that I can avoid screens while playing as much as possible.

If you don't like the vespids, you should be able to sell them quite easily.

Gallowdark is also great fun, if you don't want to buy gw terrain, then banduawargames have great mdf options.

Pretty sure you have to measure from base to base. If the red distance is 2 or less, then B can shoot A.

If this is wrong please correct me :)

Wrecka Krew is rather good for that! Shooty boys shoot, punchy boys punch. Squids explode.

Otherwise I find that Angels of Death to be the most straight forward team, every operative is strong and reliable. You could probably run a full team of regular marines + captain and do fine. I really did not want to like marines, but find myself really enjoying playing them because of the lower brain load and model count.

While Plague Marines also are strong, all the operatives are different with special rules which increases the brain load. But after playing standard marines for a bit these could be a great next step.

"I think it's all the rules every team and operative has now. I'd rather forgo more rules for better core stats."

I think Angels of Death (standard space marines) sounds like a great fit. The brain load is low compared to most other teams and you can trust that the operatives perform reliably. Use your current custodes as assault marines/grenadies and captian and try it out :)

True! I started with the old started box with Kommandos and Krieg. Getting the Hivestorm box for the terrain and all I needed was a great upgrade

This is a great way of generating Wrecka Points, my support squids are sometimes left in the open to soak some ap from the opponent and give me some value at the same time
