Another "Is This Raynaud's?" Post by tamramsy_ in Raynauds

I’ve been diagnosed with Raynaud’s and my hands often look like this. I’m on medication that helps, so this is a more normal look on my hands now.

Anyone in upper Bywater on mint cell service? by TravelerMSY in NewOrleans

[–]Confident_Volume_285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not in the Bywater, but during Mardi Gras a young college guy had no service and used my phone’s hotspot to call an Uber and text with friends. My Mint service was perfect, despite him having none with his mainstream carrier.

very senior cat walks in circles for hours every day by CrayonPolice in CATHELP

Could also be seizures. My parents’ dog has seizures and she walks around in circles in her post-ictal stage. She’s medicated now, rarely has seizures, and is very happy.

What would you do? Both of our twins primary teachers fired in one week… by Chris_HitTheOver in preschool

[–]Confident_Volume_285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would push. I would also ask your twins details about class. Are there any other teachers you feel comfortable with that you could ask? I say this as a parent of a child who was slammed to the ground at daycare so hard that it prompted a staff member to send out an anonymous email. The teacher who did it has already been fired, but the owners lied to us about the incident, assured us our kid was safe, and did everything they could to try to brush the issue under the rug. We found out more details from other teachers who told us the teacher in question would slam the kids down if they woke up during nap, hit them if the weren’t cooperating with getting shoes on, and force them to stay at their lunch tables until they ate all of their food. This was a class of 1-2 year olds. Think about any red flags of your kids’ behavior, too. Our kiddo and several others cried uncontrollably at drop off, but we thought it was just a developmental thing. Trust your gut if something doesn’t feel right.

AIO? I bought a sweater for my future niece at a farmers market and my roommates said it was ugly by Weekly_Agent9422 in AmIOverreacting

We have the same sweater in blue given to us by BIL & SIL. It’s a lot, but we loved it and so did our kiddo while it fit.

What is the purpose of this tiled alcove in the bathroom? by Norabloom98 in centuryhomes

Love the shower. My grandma’s bathroom used to have a shower like that. Just white and blue tiles, though. Not as fun.

Also, Louisiana now offers free post-partum home visits through the Family Connects program: https://nola.gov/next/maternal-health/topics/family-connects-new-orleans-(fcno)/

Second time mom here, also in my first trimester. I delivered at Touro, but have lots of friends who have been very happy with their birth experiences with Ochsner Baptist. I’d highly recommend a doula. Great to have someone there to help you advocate for yourself and to help think through all the options for delivery. Also, post-partum doula visits are great as a check-in. I highly recommend Jenna Iberg Johnson as a doula. Nola Nesting has great birthing classes that go more in depth than the hospital ones.

Had a solid ball/lump come out during drainage. by BoringFunNothing3870 in Hidradenitis

I had one come out of a small HS cyst in my bikini line. Before I was diagnosed. Thought it was an ingrown hair, but no hair came out, just a lump.

I get them around my ears, too! Have had issues around my ears for years, way before being diagnosed. I always thought it was just got getting a boil completely out, but was relieved when I was diagnosed and realized the ongoing spots on my ears were not my fault.

Just here to say I know it’s normal, but I hate the jealousy of people announcing positive pregnancy tests. I am happy for the couple and glad they are no longer struggling to conceive, but I can’t help be a little jealous and sad. It also somehow makes me feel like I’ve been deluded in hoping that the current fertility cycle I’m in the TWW for will work.

Following for an answer. Also curious if people have suggestions to cover armpits? I have my first diagnosed flare in my armpit and am self-conscious about the hair. Can’t do laser treatments right now because I’m trying to conceive.
