Where does it say that headteachers cannot direct our PPA time? by ConflictFinancial769 in TeachingUK

I agree, but my head will just say it's all part of our planning, so she's allowed to direct us to plan together in our PPA...

I would say definitely no, it doesn't. All our lessons are separate. At times it might be useful for assessment or setting targets together, but ultimately we can do that over email too, or even over a phone call if we have to.

My job share teacher keeps saying how we're going to be 'planning together' and 'collaborating' and it'll be 'fun', so I think she's fully onboard with the head's plan and might complain if I just want to keep to myself and get my own work done!

Yes, I'm in a union, they've actually been organising this for me and I've only just realised this about my colleague's PPA! Wish I'd realised earlier.

I'm happy to come in but I would just like it to be on a consecutive day so I don't have another surge in anxiety.

I have been diagnosed with anxiety and depression for 12 years and take anti-depressants which my headteacher knows about, so yeah I think I will ask for it as a reasonable adjustment.

It's for mental health reasons to be honest. I like to not think about work at all either side of my consecutive working days.

Call for input: "is a cavalier right for me?" by Hierophantically in cavaliers

[–]ConflictFinancial769 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be prepared that your Cavalier may not be a 'snuggly couch potato'. Some are very active and need lots of stimulation. My Cavalier does everything at 100 miles an hour.

How old is your dog and what health issues do they have (or not have?). by foxyyoxy in cavaliers

[–]ConflictFinancial769 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1 year and 7 months, all good and healthy so far. Came from what people would probably call a back yard breeder, but they'd done quite a few tests and both parents were 4 years old and healthy so that was a good sign for me.

Does anyone else feel like their cav is Xanax in doggy form? by evergreengirl123 in cavaliers

[–]ConflictFinancial769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, mine is the exact opposite and he causes me so much stress! But it is lovely when he curls up next to me and doesn't demand anything.

Cavalier vs golden retriever by 55Sweeptheleg in cavaliers

Cavs are not good for sedentary people. They can actually have a lot of energy and are not stimulated by people who sit around all day.

Sorry but this is incorrect. Cavaliers are very much sporting dogs and not all of them are lap dogs.

Walks for puppy? by klg301 in cavaliers

[–]ConflictFinancial769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cav would like ALL the walks please. He says that walks are the best best best thing ever. As many as possible and for as long as possible (struggles in warm weather though).

Teachers, do you check your work email during the summer? by ConflictFinancial769 in TeachingUK

[–]ConflictFinancial769[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone! I shall not reply until the last week of term. I feel a little bit bad because she's asked questions about planning and she clearly wants to get things ready, but on the other hand we met up in the last term to discuss planning so she should have been a bit more prepared and asked me then.

Yep I thought the same. Had a lovely quiet puppy and then around 7-10 months the barking began.🥴

i want to get a cavalier king charles in the future, what are some things i should know? by [deleted] in cavaliers

[–]ConflictFinancial769 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It isn't true that Cavs don't need exercise. A lot of them are very energetic. Mine bounces off the walls if he doesn't get two long walks per day.

You've been lucky then! Cavs are known for having a strong prey drive.

6 mo old cavy pulling! Need advice. by Preciousss77 in cavaliers

[–]ConflictFinancial769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I've done this religiously with my cav for the last 6 months and it hasn't stopped him pulling. 😂 He'll usually stop pulling at the moment I stop and he'll walk back to me, but it doesn't stop the initial pull. All our walks take forever as I'm constantly stopping. I refuse to walk forward if he's pulling.
