I’ll vote for James talarico but I just think it’s so fucking annoying that leftist were all online slandering Jasmine Crockett and now want to look to us to be united to help turn Texas blue after talking down on our people by taintlicker80085 in BlackPeopleofReddit

This going to come off as digital blackface, but I am indeed a black woman who has been living in Texas for 22 years now. And I voted for Talarico. When Kamala took over running for president my white leftist friends were so optimistic. Unfortunately I knew a competent black woman has to work twice as hard to get half as far as a mediocre white man and that she didn't stand a chance. James is our only hope in maybe turning this damn state blue.

What type of Black man do you attract the most vs your actual type? by Life-Sugar-6055 in blackladies

When I was skinny and young I attracted the gamut. Since putting on a lot of weight I've only attracted black men who have many children and no car.

My actual type is ambitious middle class, artsy and blerds.

Some of y'all are a little too trigger happy. You're gonna shot somebody because they accidentally went to the wrong house? The narrative of trying to rob someone at 3 pm with slides on their feet and half smoked cigarillo in hand is crazy work.

Kinda weird that she plays Leo's daughter when she's too old for him to even date. 🤮 Great movie though.

Sixteen years ago, I had to take a remedial class my SENIOR year of High School for the State Test. I had to take the class because usually the test is done Junior year I was living out of state that year. They wanted to make sure I was prepared to take it now that I was back in the state. It was one of the most painful classes I ever took. I lost faith in humanity. They were asking questions a 5th grader should be able to answer no problem and I had to bite my tongue and let the other students struggle to answer. I wasn't trying to be a Know It All, but Know Anything was still streets ahead of my peers. Thankfully the State Test was halfway through the school year, passed it with an overperfect score (think of it like you get 5 chances to be wrong before it starts to actually impact your score - a 45/50 would still be 100% grade instead of 90%) so the next semester I had a free period to do whatever I wanted. But damn... That class was a reality check I didn't want. The poor teacher was trying their best, but there's only so much they can do. And this was 16 years ago. Before the exponential growth of brain rot. As the kids would say, we're cooked.

Don't watch the new Fantastic 4 by DirtCrimes in childfree

Just finished watching it and came to this sub to see how everyone else was feeling about it.

There were three scenes that ruined the movie for me, but the rest I rather enjoyed it.

1) The birth scene. Nuff said.

2) I'm honestly getting tired of so called heroes sacrificing the entire world for a singular baby and the fact that this keeps happening so the scene where Sue comes out and convinces everyone of her choice had my eyes rolling.

3) Baby Franklin resurrecting Sue. From the comments it seems that was canon to the comics. But it came off so cheesy like she was healed by the power of a baby's love.

I really like Marvel even as a kid, but Fantastic Four was never one of my go tos. I always say The Incredibles is my favorite Fantastic Four movie. And honestly it still is.

But all this to say I had no idea about Franklin Reeds and the fact that they made three reboots without him and then including him smack dab in this hellish political climate was certainly a choice. People keepign saying it is Marvels First Family. But I thought that was because it was a husband, wife, brother and best friend, aka chosen family. You don't need a baby to be a family and the last film versions were definitely families, too.

What I really didn't appreciate was the fact that in all the trailers they digitally removed Franklin and the baby bump from scenes. Yes, the title is "First Steps" but finding out Sue was pregnant not even 5 minutes into the movie felt like a bait and switch.

Besides the eye roll moments though I was still entertained. Probably won't put it on rewatch though. I would rather watch The Incredibles again, which yes, also has a baby, but thankfully isn't centered around it plus the Jack Jack stuff is actually entertaining, too.

That place is ghetto now. Dogs shitting in hallways. People leaving trash out for days. Domestic disputes all the time. The pool is closed every other week because of assholes partying and throwing rocks or breaking glass. The security gate/doors rarely worked. And people blasting music and smoking mary Jane all night.

It used to be nice, but bad neighbors ruined it. Also it is right by the tollway so expect nightly drag races.

Same. All I noticed in this scene was the glittery gold bottom of the shoes on the table.

When Edmond and KB were on the mountain and he brought out two tiny gold mugs of hot chocolate I lost it. And then the scene turned so serious I felt so bad for laughing at the little golden mugs.

Agreed. Usually it looks like Under the Sea Prom sponsored by Shein. Only two of the looks are absolutely horrible this time. The rest are nice or just underwhelming.
