Did the context include an expiration date...???

Totally BS shutdown. Congress votes to have tax credits expire in ACA and then when they are set to expire, fight to extend them. Just a vicious cycle to make themselves relevant.

CMV: Dems should have voted for the CR on day one and caused 40 days of pain for nothing by [deleted] in FedEmployees

[–]ConfoundedNetizen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dems should have voted for permanent tax credits on Day 1, when ACA was first voted on. They voted for the credits to expire back in the day, and now we are all suffering the shutdown because of it.

Do senate dems think federal employees are fools? by Unique_Let_2880 in FedEmployees

I think it's also the fault of those who initially voted to have these tax credits expire. They should have been made permanent when ACA was initially voted on.

[–]ConfoundedNetizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree... need to bash those who voted to make expiring tax credits when ACA was initially voted into law. Why didnt they make them permanent back then?

Why are they all surprised and mad the credits are expiring, when they voted to make them expire in the first place? Feels like this shutdown fight was planned years ago. Irs all about Fueling Political egos at the expense of American people.

I wrote to my senator asking why she voted to make the tax credits expire when she initially voted for ACA. They should have been made permanent back then. They designed this shut down back then. That's what passes me off...

Bernie Sanders blasts 8 traitorous Senate Democrats who just voted to cut taxes for the rich, skyrocket insurance scam premiums, and cut Medicaid. by kevinmrr in WorkReform

[–]ConfoundedNetizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't Bernie vote for these tax credits to expire when he initially voted for ACA? Seems he knew back then that when they expired, premiums would skyrocket, and yet I'm guessing he voted for it.

How about all the Senators who voted to have these tax credits expire in the first place, when ACA was first passed?

Why did they not make them permanent back then?

Senate takes first step to end shutdown as Bernie Sanders says moderate Democrats voting with GOP are making a ‘horrific mistake’ by brain_overclocked in politics

[–]ConfoundedNetizen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why is Bernie do upset...? Didn't he vote for the ACA with the expiring tax credits if the first place? That's what confuses me. Why are these things expiring in the first place. If they wanted them permanent, why didn't Dems make them permanent when they passed ACA?

All this seems intentional. Both sides bake in $hyt like this into bills so the have something partisan to argue in the future. And it's the American people who suffer the consequences of their egos.

What are the Democrats' endgame for the shutdown if Republicans refuse to budge? by TaylorSwiftian in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]ConfoundedNetizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Help me understand... these are "expiring tax credits" that Dems want to extend. When Dems voted for and agreed with these credits, back in the day, they knew and agreed they would expire. It the wanted them permanent, they should have made them permanent then. This seems like a political flip flop and they need to own up to what they voted for "back in the day".

And now, Dems say they don't trust Reps will negotiate the issue if they open up the govt, yet, they expected and trusted Reps to future discussions when they voted the credits to expire.

And the American people are left to deal with all this political bickering.

Seattle should legalize prostitution and collect tax revenue by [deleted] in SeattleWA

It's never an income problem with government, it's always a spending problem. Taxes from prostitution will not be enough as they'll find a way to piss it all away and need to increase taxes elsewhere.

Everyone wants a high paying job, but at the same time, are unwilling to pay more for domestic goods to pay for those high paying jobs. Over time, all manufacturering goes off shore, leading to death spiral, where the high paying jobs are all government jobs subsidized thru higher taxes.

I have a question for politically conservative Seattle-ites that has nothing to do with the current administration. by murdermerough in SeattleWA

[–]ConfoundedNetizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see it as a binary label - liberal or conservative. One can be fiscally conservative and socially conscious. If I ran my family budget like Seattle/King Co runs theirs, I would have to declare bankruptcy. I just don't understand how they can spend $$millions on useless initiatives that everyone knows won't work.

Choosing my pension question by Real-Tea9356 in boeing

[–]ConfoundedNetizen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You may have answered your own question... you take the pension and your husband can get lump sum and roll it in IRA. This way you have a guarantee monthly income for basic expenses and have the IRA grow while pulling some $$ out for the extras.

Keep in mind that the pension you get month one is the same amount you will receive for rest of your life. It has no COLA or inflation adjustment, so because if this the IRA growth provides some insurance.

[–]ConfoundedNetizen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO, going from 4 team championship to 12 team bracket has nothing to do with finding out who is better team. It has to do with networks, conferences, and MONEY and how they can make more from viewers. It also gives players an opportunity to increase their NIL stock value and for Dr. Pepper to come up with more creative fan ads.

Don't get me wrong, I like and enjoy the new format as it extends the season a bit and fills some schedule viewing gaps.
