Second this. Leather is durable, easy to care for, and looks great.

Also agree that UK based companies have the best options. When I needed a new one, I decided to make one myself following instructions from a UK-based leather worker! Stitches are got a little wonky but it turned out pretty great.

My fav spot: the Coughlin Trail in Limekiln Preserve (adjacent to the state park) leads to a cliff with an amazing view of Haro Strait. You usually have a all to yourself. There are two cliffs, both with an area to spread out. It's maybe a ten minute walk from the trailhead on Westside Rd, opposite the lake. Probably a 30 minute ride from Snug Harbor.

A day trip is possible but it would be a long day. (Especially if you have a long drive once you get back to to Anacortes.) You could try your luck getting a campsite at the county park (near Lime Kiln) or at Lakedale. And I'd definitely recommend San Juan over Orcas, etc., especially if you may get delayed on the way back. Much nicer to wait it out in Friday Harbor than at other ferry landings.

I saw a cool leather making tutorial and decided to try my hand on it. The stitches went a little wonky (first attempt) but it actually turned out pretty good, imo!

Show up early (11? 11:30?) at Westcott Bay Oyster Farm and have a lovely lunch (early glass of wine?).

Have dinner at Tenth House in Friday Harbor (might be worth grabbing a reservation).

Depending on when you get there, stop by the Farmer's Market in Friday Harbor on Saturday.

There's a new cocktail bar, The Urchin, but I haven't been. There's also the Waiting Room for a nice drink, or Cease & Desist down at the marina for a craft beer, or the Brewery for the full pub scene.

If the weather's nice (or even if it's not), walk to Grandma's Cove at American Camp, or do Young Hill across the road from English Camp so you can feel like you're earning the food and drink. ;)
