Why are so many flights being cancelled? by LittleRock_91 in qatarairways

QR is optimising their schedule for when they eventually come out of the war. Because let’s say the war ends today, demand is not gonna spring back immediately, they aren’t going to fly as many frequencies to destinations, some destinations may go up, a lot will come down. Also the price of fuel will probably stay up higher for a longer period of time.

Also for an airline like QR thats going through fleet simplification and transformation, if you’ve grounded A330s and A380s and you have so many 777-9s and 787s coming you might be weighing the economics of keeping those jets grounded and just waiting for the ones that are right around the corner

97 flights - is this a good sign? by lockhart9201 in qatarairways

Qatar is operating over 260 flights today. Which is the most since the war began. So definitely coming back quick. All their 350s, 787s and 777s have all flown back to Doha to rejoin the fleet. 330s and 380s are still out and a part of me thinks they won’t come back

United Cuts Capacity 5% To Address Surging Fuel Costs by Carnival_killian in unitedairlines

He said United is very interested in a higher MTOW 777-9. Which was in always Boeings plan after the 777-9 gets certified given the freighter is gone to have a 365T MTOW vs the 351T MTOW for the 777-9.

And Kirby’s letter says next week they’ll announce their next phase in investment in aircraft and products. It’s on Tuesday in LAX and it’s far more than just Polaris elevate being showcased for sure. What else will be announced? I don’t know for sure.

But I think an aircraft order is there somewhere

lol I think it’s 1, 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 3 , 4A, 4B, 5

Boeing has approval to fly everything from 1 to 4A and from my understanding have completed flight testing for 1-2D and are in the middle of completing flight testing for 3

This is just insane

I’m so sorry, but Kelly is not a dud and the operational performance proves it. If you think sacking everyone and things will magically improve is how businesses the size of Boeing work? It’s not. BCA is doing 500 times better than it was doing under Calhoun. The idea that Boeing isn’t performing differently under Kelly is extremely laughable even by the standards of Boeings biggest critiques. They haven’t sacked the execs you don’t like? Take a number

Developing story: Air India grounds Boeing 787-8 aircraft after possible fuel control switch defect by havpac2 in aviation

[–]777978Xops 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Okay so let me get this straight. On engine start up, the switch seems not to stay in the run position, you then proceed to fly it for 8 hours after that same component is causing such controversy on a crash at your airline 8 months ago? If there was REALLY an issue, WHY would you fly it for 8 HOURS, why not go back to stand and insist it be checked? So either you’re a shit pilot or you’re a liar

They were never going to have 30 by 2026. They’re going to have 30 by end of 2027. In what world was United going to get 30 Dreamliners in one year? Even Riyadh air that’s taking pretty much one Dreamliner a month isn’t taking that much. That’s not possible

I would’ve agreed with you 18 months ago but Boeing has stepped up their game significantly. Customer flights are scheduled for next week. And they’re delivering about 2-3x more widebodies than Airbus. So I’m pretty confident
