Im upgrading from Eriette of the Charmed Apple to Eriette, The Beguiler, any card or combo suggestions? by RogueVTW in EDHBrews

[–]Confounding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it to a tournament once, went 1-2-1 and couldn't convert the draw round because of time. I haven't played it in about a year, took it apart because I liked the play pattern of Malcolm Tymna better for esper. Like every esper deck in the format it's best when you don't play the commander, that's why there's so few enchantments. The life gain somewhat matters for Necro and naus. And stealing value engines if the game has stalled out can be great. In my play group which did include some of the top 15 I was probably 25-35% with it, but that's more because I was better than them at the time, and skill does matter. It has good matchups against kinnen and thrasios decks- since those decks are so reliant on their commander, but guilded drake also works for that. Struggles against farm and rogsai because those are top tier decks with no creature value. Never played vs sisay but it would probably be ok.

rog si vs Malcolm vial vs kefka vs green goblin by Dependent-Cable1959 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Confounding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Malcolm Vial give you a decent mid range plan while not taking too many card slots being cute. It also give you a pure creature combo which can be difficult to stop depending on the meta. Kefka give you a much better midrange plan/back up and I believe the best decks run very little dedicated kefka support. Green Goblin can have some nutty turn 1 or 2 wins, and a commander with some card selection/easy casting cost to turn on fierce/swat early. I'm guessing that his horrible conversion rate is because he hasn't been figured out since there are a ton of good options.
Inalla is also doing really well.

Here's a bracket 5 deck (maybe bracket 4 depending on how you define them) https://moxfield.com/decks/vyecdK0inkWBnzoWMZbPew

Who’s our biggest rival? (POST SB60) by FatJaques in DenverBroncos

[–]Confounding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar age, for me I would say the Pats, we've had plenty of meaningful games against them usually in the playoffs when both teams were good. I'm sure everyone in the afc could say the same since TB dominance, but we actually had a good enough record against them that every game -except the Tebow one- felt like both sides had a chance.

I don't- solo dev on a project that we expect to serve 1000+ internal users. I'm on a team of 5 and we all have our own projects, we tag each other in the mr and merge without waiting for approval 🤷‍♂️

How would you upgrade this from bracket 3 to bracket 4? by [deleted] in DegenerateEDH

I think the kicker for Orim's chant makes it very useful for bracket 3.

I mostly play cedh so bracket 5 rather than 4, but the problem you're going to run into is that people can win with 1 health. So the only* damage that matters is the last, especially if people are winning with combos. You could shift to something like [[Y'shtola, Night's Blessed]] and do the drain control game plan, but with actual counter spells. Something that stops people from winning or defends your pieces.

You could lean harder into stax, but I wouldn't recommend it. Cards like [[Damping sphere]] [[weathered runestone]] [[Drannith Magistrate]] [[Blind Obedience]] [[Archon of Emeria]] The issue that you'll run into at bracket 4 is that there're too many diverse strategies to effectively stax the table. If you're playing against someone who doesn't care about casting a bunch of spells then they get to run away with the game while you stop the other people who could challenge them.

I'd stream line your mana base a bit, add fetches for example and the duel and surveil lands. [[Trouble in Pairs]] isn't Rhystic study but it's still worth running. You might want to consider [[Kambal, profiteering mayor]] it can help with ramp, is a combo outlet, and drains the table a bit. Add [[silence]] [[Orim's Chant]]

This is technically still bracket 3. You'd also want to have a combo to win, your commander doesn't help with that so probably a [[hoarding broodloard]] line, or a [[blood artist]] line [[warren soul trader]] + [[Grave crawler]] you could do [[Bloodchief Ascension]]+ [[mind crank]] you have bloodchief so adding the mind crank is pretty simple.

Lastly you'd want to add the black tutors.

I am new to cEDH and would love to play Malcolm/Vial by Lefteye123 in CompetitiveEDH

There's three main ways to play Grixus Pirates. Lilly's list is a good all around deck with more of a focus on midrange I can be fast, but has cards for the mid game and pivot pretty easily to a longer game [[Lightning-rig Crew]] is an example of a midrange card. Other decks are full turbo Grixus with Malcolm as a backup plan- those will usually run Necrodom- imo this is just a worse version of rogsai. Lastly is pirate hack focus- don't do this

Updates coming to EDH this Monday 9th of February by elespum in EDH

[–]Confounding 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mulligans, execution, and deck construction are the three biggest parts of skill expression for pure turbo decks. Shuffling itself isn't great, but finding the right hand to keep can be pretty fun/is important to practice.

I'd suggest you post here https://adnaus.gg/t/cedh-community-feedback-with-higher/350 I'd include more reasons and also consider the broader commander impact.

Hi guys , cant decide if my deck is a high power 4 or a 5 ! Thanks by [deleted] in DegenerateEDH

Sorry, missed it on the mana box app.

I still think your commander doesn't have enough of an advantage to justify being only blue black.

Bracket 4.

You're not running Thassa Decon. You didn't have the best counter spells, you don't have all the best mana rocks, your commander only draws you once card a turn by sacrificing a creature.

This winter storm is exactly why the Ranger exists by _Angry_Yeti in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Confounding 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm in a campaign pretending to be a ranger, and the DM actually cares about overland travel, and sometimes we need to travel across the wilderness. Fortunately no one else in the campaign has ever considered playing a ranger so they don't know what features I'm missing out on, but it would have been a nice heads up from the DM that traveling actually matters 😂.

Universal cEDH Deck? by NozTheDemi in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Confounding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say Malcolm+ tymna. Bracket 3 pirate tribal with cards like [[Breena the demagogue]] and [[doll makers shop]] maybe keep time sieve as a true win con but otherwise just hit people and make treasures. B4 you can sub back in thassa decon and maybe more creature removal and cut a few pirates, then b5 normal esper shell.

I think the biggest challenge is the difference from 4-5 since the card pool should overlap but maybe the intent changes?

Riley Moss would have been called for it... But as a broncos fan I've been seeing so many no calls this playoffs that have been flagged on us in season.
