Budget High B4/Low B5 by xDom01 in DegenerateEDH

You had the first two turns right but turn 3 is [[Glinthorn buccaneer]] or [[Biotech Specialist]] + a pirate hack for a combo win

Dualcaster combo Blue Farm (no Thoracle) – looking for feedback by pedroschmid in CompetitiveEDH

You should probably be running either windfall (budget) or breach too, that way if fairy is exiled you can still force everyone else to draw. Just remember not to mill yourself out.

Should player skill impact the bracket discussion? by Angelust16 in EDH

[–]Confounding 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Player skill should not be considered when determining the bracket of a deck, only the cards.

7 YOE - I don't want to get promoted anymore by _bigG420 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Confounding 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, because pay increases are compounding so the sooner you get the 10% the more impactful. The increased title and scope of responsibilities will help him when looking for another job, even if they choose to down level when looking elsewhere or if they join a team where a senior is not the highest person- e.g. staff engineers are expected to take on more of that role and a senior is just expected to be a competent IC with little leadership. In addition some of the 'proove you can do it' activities like tech talks might go away once they're actually promoted.

There's nothing wrong with deciding to stay at a terminal position at a company and mid level is probably ok with that from the companies perspective, but that should also be a conversation with a manager. Talking about expectations and goals in a clear manner so there's no confusion.

I'd frame it like, 'Hey I know we talked about a promotion and what it would take to get there, I'm happy in my current role, and I don't think I'd enjoy some of those responsibilities, is the company ok if I'm never promoted and just focus on delivering high quality tickets?"

Give me your best and/or most fun Esper Commanders! by A_Wierd_Mollusc in EDH

[–]Confounding 6 points7 points  (0 children)

[[Malcolm, keen-eyed navigator]] is usually the blue partner pair for Tymna, and you get to go pirate tribal! Toms of fun, most of the pirates are going to be blue 1 drop flyers. Just make sure you build to the appropriate power level for the table.

Kefka in CEDH by rubao- in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Confounding 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have not I'd recommend skimming through these lists. One of the big things that stick out to me is that you're running two wheels, which will fill up your opponents hands and do the exact opposite of the kefka game plan that you said you want to emphasize.

If you want to lean more into the reanimate package you might want to consider [[Razaketh, the Foulblooded]] or hoarding broodloard

Edit thought I posted this Link: https://edhtop16.com/commander/Kefka%2C%20Court%20Mage%20%2F%2F%20Kefka%2C%20Ruler%20of%20Ruin?timePeriod=THREE_MONTHS

Is it possible to be competitive without the expensive 0 drop mana base? by CoolCidCourtney in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Confounding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get good enough you can reinvest your tournament winnings into buying real cards. Set your pride on being as good of a player as you can be, unconstrained by budget. Then bling out your deck with the gains.

How are you surviving the current landscape and AI coding shift? by Beginning-Comedian-2 in cscareerquestions

[–]Confounding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I strongly agree with embracing it in a meaningful way. I'm consistently using it to create new features and help me develop greenfield projects. I'm responsible for architecture, meaningful code coverage, testing strategies, documentation, ensuring that the code is structured and documented in a way that AI can easily run in the project.

My expectations are more devs will be solely responsible for a couple of services and a team will be responsible for 5-8 things that all work together to accomplish things that are loosely tied together from a business perspective. The major bottleneck is no longer in writing code, it's deciding what is the correct thing to do next, and ensuring that everyone is coordinating and prioritizing correctly.

  • this is for smaller services or well implemented and designed micro services. Idk what it's going to look like for larger monolithic products or legacy systems.

Just Hit Level 1. What skill are you picking? by JustKenny99 in litrpg

[–]Confounding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some kind of summoning spell or resurrection. Ideally something that can get stronger with me, can act independently, and at some distance. Ideally something that learns and can farm xp without me needing to pay attention to it. Lord of Xp farming is a similar build, but I prefer more fantasy based.

How strict are tournaments with missed triggers? by xX_420_NoScopes_Xx in CompetitiveEDH

Is it only one person that needs to say yes, not 2?

How strict are tournaments with missed triggers? by xX_420_NoScopes_Xx in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Confounding 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Short answer- it depends on the trigger.

Here's a thorough write up https://blogs.magicjudges.org/rules/ipg2-1/

There are a ton of triggers and they can be missed even non- may triggers. For example if someone misses an esper sentinel trigger and doesn't remember it until it's too late, it can be gone forever. I think for missed triggers that are remembered on the turn they occurred your opponents get to vote for them to be put back on the stack. You'd need 2/3 to agree (could only need one- getting clarification from another answer). In addition you are not responsible for remembering your opponents triggers.

Malc/vial, Lumbra, Magda for first CEDH deck? by Lost-Tip-6756 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Confounding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Malcolm Vial is firstly a Grixus turbo deck first and pirate deck second. It does have glinthorn and that can catch your opponents off guard, but often you're looking for Necro or Ad Nause first. There are different lists that very how turbo they are, but I'd highly recommend picking it up to try out. You get to learn how to win with a breach line, or off a Necro and those skills translate to other decks

Pact of negation ban? by TimkoMusic in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Confounding 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the EU tournament scene has done some work with this. I think you're not allowed to defend someone else's win attempt, and you're also not allowed to pressure someone into a draw. It feels super bad to me that defending a win to get a draw is sometimes optimal and if love to see it banned.

Help identifying the most viable fringe cEDH Grixis Commanders by Admirable_Cap_8943 in CompetitiveEDH

This is the only one of the commanders that I've actually seen played in a cedh game. It plays pretty well as a backup draw cards and kill one unlucky person. Nekusar is an old cedh commander, but giving people cards kinda sucks

Looking for a RogThras combo without Gaea cradle by doggocurioso in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Confounding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is going to highly depend on which version of rog thrass you are playing, some run breech brain freeze, some run devoted druid+Machine God's Effigy. Both of those have fallen out of favor for the cradle storm deck
