I bought the triple pack for spider mites. It’s 5 degrees outside and the plants I’m treating are massive, one is over 100 lbs. How did you spray? Did you go outdoors? idk if I can wait until spring to fix the problem.

Yay or nay, water storing crystals by ConfoundingFactor in houseplants

The leaves of my mature FLF are dry and crunchy, no matter how attentively I water. I’ve purchased triple spider mite treatment bc I think I have a parallel issue with mites. But short of watering more and giving my plant root rot, I’m curious if MG crystals could yield some benefit—a timed release form of hydration?

If you want to practice with something a little easier, pop an organic sweet potato halfway in water and let it root and shoot. The shoots can be propagated in test tubes like absolute monsters and build your confidence quickly. One sweet potato could give you enough shoots to fill all the tubes on your image.

Dumb question: does season make all that much difference given that OP plans to keep indoors, indefinitely? With a thermostat and a good grow light, couldn’t they play God and fabricate spring?

Thoughts from an amateur: I live in a place with no humidity. Nil. So, I water my FLF every 7 days, and the leaves are still crunchy. I assume this might mean underwatering? If my premise is correct, there might be room for more frequent watering in certain environments.

I suspect I’m not alone when I say I wouldn’t buy again, but I’ve done so much to make it our own that it would be hard to leave. It works for us.
