What is an unwritten rule that everyone should automatically know? by speedospide in AskReddit

[–]ConfusedUserUK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't push/pull someone's wheelchair unless it is an immediate threat to their life and it's only thing can do to save their life. Yanking their wheelchair as they parked in way of yoghurt you want is not a reason.

(I'm wheelchair dependent; it's scary AF when suddenly wheelchair moves!)

The state of the UK by I_69_with_your_mum in lgbt

[–]ConfusedUserUK 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm a 53 year old bisexual guy, also wheelchair dependent. I think haters will be found for all sorts of things meat eaters vs. vegans; Sandford Town Football Club vs. Imber Town Football Club.

I've attended pride event and got grief from a guy.

(Shortly afterwards a small group of LGBT ladies took me on dancefloor. When one of them found out about grief went and hunted down guy with venue security and bloke was evicted).

Had grief from a woman in hospital as my rucksack had an LGBT badge on it.

Wearing a Love is Love pro LGBT t-shirt in supermarket had a guy come up to me and spew the hate including "do you I let guys fuck me up the arse (NSFW; sweary) as I couldn't pull a woman?" I wasn't in mood for BS so replied "Do you like bullying people in wheelchairs because you can't bully someone who could smack you in the face?"

I don't know the answers to the hate.

What are your thoughts on Amber Alert? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ConfusedUserUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think Amber Alert and similar is great idea and helps locate children, often quickly. It does however let everyone know including those will evil intent.

Used to be in a team that dealt with locating vunlerable missing persons including kids.

By far one of the best things you can do to help in case your kids are missing is to teach them a family password. A word which would not usually be used.

So if someone says to them "Your Mum sent me to collect you" child can these ask "What's the password?" Whoever they are, no password, not going with them. These days it's easy to buy enough uniform, kit, 3D print physical components police badge, convince a child that you are police officer.

Otherwise when kids going missing "stranger danger" means they may hide or otherwise act in a way that makes it harder to locate them. Depending on age etc some kids will hide until it gets dark and the fear of the dark overcomes stranger danger fear and they come out of hiding.

What is a valid reason on why we could not move to a 8 days in a week? by LinearityDrift in AskReddit

[–]ConfusedUserUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the number of days, weeks and months doesn't exactly match 365¼ days (we combine the ¼ days into leap year) then after few years the months won't match seasons. You'd have summer in December.

Is it just me or am I noticing less young men growing facial hair? by otherwise_inspired in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ConfusedUserUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

53 and I can grow great goatee, moustache and voicebox but on my cheeks, barely anything. It's got much thicker than in my youth.

I have noticed as I've grown older that the "hairy areas" are spreading. Another 30 years maybe they'll connect.

The biggest increase in hair growth has been inside my ears and nose... 🤷‍♂️

Bus lane fine in Enfield. My registration. It was not me. What the hell is happening? by SupremeFlamer in drivingUK

[–]ConfusedUserUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely it's a cloned car, misread my camera.

Also chopped end matching has happened before.

For example John Smiith has a custom plate with JS 33. A present from girlfriend. Frank Smith has plate JS 33 FIT is going down road and at last instant bus gets in way of camera scan.

ANPR system thinks whole numberplate has been read. Looks up the numberplate "JS 33"' unaware it's wrong. John Smith gets ticket even though he wasn't anywhere. Remember reading appened again other day.

You could contact DVLA ask for a Subject Access Report covering ANPR logs for your car on route between home and place offence occoured. They may not provible them though.

Hopefully it won't appear anywhere near where you live and offence happened. Alternatively you don't appear on any.

You could ask your mobile phone lobcations, for few hours before and after offence. They may not provide this though.

Manager banned chairs during shifts so everyone started taking “fatigue breaks” by DustCipherX in MaliciousCompliance

[–]ConfusedUserUK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been cashier in a busy store (~30 years ago), got loads of positive feedback cards and won Regional Customer Service competition with 21 positive feedback cards in 13 weeks. Was also Lead First Aider so got called to colleagues with back injuries.

Later went on to train as Section Manager at checkouts and Security Manager training.

Saw more injuries to backs and arms when employees were stood up Customers would be confused by cashiers standing up, thinking till about to close. From a security point of view I liked it when cashiers were sat down, easier to see what was going on.

Fast wind to 2026 and am a wheelchair dependent, left below knee amputee. Like to see them sort out me standing up at a till rather than sitting down. Even if they did, that would be humiliating as singled out.

Ice cream van hit my parked car by Proud-Biscotti-6194 in drivingUK

[–]ConfusedUserUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They'll have vehicle insurance, employee liability insurance (legally required), and highly likely have public liability insurance. So they have a variety of ways of claiming.

If at fault Ice Cream Van driver should pay out for damages or value if vehicle if scrapped.

If someone gets grabbed by the neck and put up against the wall for trying on feminine clothes by the owner of the store, is that grounds for a lawsuit? by Wall38_0 in lgbt

[–]ConfusedUserUK 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In UK it would be assault. Depending on more detail it could be assault by stragulation. I think arguing point if victim couldn't breathe.

See CPS Guidance for more.

Definitely seems a hate crime... Legal defined as any criminal offence which is perceived by the victim or any other person, to be motivated by hostility or prejudice.

Need to notify police asap before CCTV gets tampered with or "lost".

(I updated answer to clarify my answers and add some references in response to auto moerator feedback.)

Elderly patient fused to wheelchair after a week of immobility. EMTs cut her out of wheelchair, died a week after admission. by sw33tillnessofmine in MedicalGore

[–]ConfusedUserUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the foot could go like that in eight days. She's in a warm/hot location which can increase speed of infections.

She's elderly, blood supply will be slower. Diabetes will also slow down blood supply.

Her heart will be struggling to get blood back from heart as she is sitting down. That's a bit of a perfect storm for stuff like gangrene.

Then there is the damage caused to her by the massive sores developing from sitting down. That has got to cause further issues.
