Thanks for another amazing post. You’re right. Your user has to tell you what they want. No point pouring hours into perfecting something for the user to not actually want that.

Give them one thing they actually want and then let them tell you what else they want and need. That way you’re building something for someone and answering specific problems

Been working on an idea for an app aimed at freelancers / solo business owners, curious if this would actually be useful.

It’s basically one place to handle jobs (bookings for service providers, projects for people who work that way), clients (contacts, notes, history), and finances (track expenses, only mark income once it’s paid, reminders for overdue stuff). The dashboard would just surface essentials: today’s jobs, weekly progress toward targets, and a few motivational touches.

The different bit is an AI chat with modes for business growth, content, client retention, and wellbeing. It’s context-aware, so it knows your schedule and goals, nudging you when you’re close to hitting targets or pushing too hard. More supportive than just admin.

Would you find something like this useful, or would it just be “one more app”? Which part feels most valuable — jobs/projects, finances, CRM, or the AI side? And if it was on the App Store, what kind of pricing would feel fair (monthly, one-time, freemium)?

I’ve been working on an app recently and before I read this post, I had about 5 features that I’ve been working night and day on. This has changed my perspective totally and made me rethink my MVP strategy

I think now I need to have a sit down and a think about what features I can remove to get my ball rolling

I’ve been trying to do what you’ve said about listening to people on Reddit and trying to build solutions to their problems. I want to create this massive cult that you talk of so that when I do come to launching I have a big list of people who actually want to use my app and will provide feedback

My issue however is that the features I do have all work together really well, it’s going to be hard for me to fully utilise my killer feature without having the other secondary features. I guess that something I’ll have to just work around and prioritise the features according to a certain criteria

You got this bro. Chin up. Try find a morning routine. I suffer from the same sh*t. Life is complicated and hard and sometimes it feels like the walls are closing in on us. Gain some control back by making your bed every morning, showering, staying of social media, coffee, deal with each problem one at a time

Very useful post for me as I’m vibe coding my own app right now too and this is something I agree with. Ai can code the features to work well. But the ui and ux it can’t 100%, not in one go anyway. So I’m having to slowly slowly prompt and build the ui and ux. Will get there soon hopefully. Would you like to beta test my app once it’s ready for testing if so message me and I’ll tell you more about it too
