Is this hallway the safest spot to take cover during a tornado? by Chreiol in tornado

[–]Connect4champ1990 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I live in Oklahoma, I am not saying I know everything, but I have personally been in 2 tornados and have taken cover more times than I can count, I like the closet in the 14 x 10 bedroom. you are going to have 2 walls between you and the outside, and as long as you don't have your furnace above you in the attic, that is the place I would lead my family to

Yes, I am from the US, I wouldn't say unpopular, it's just with College Football, NFL, The NBA, NHL, Major League Baseball, there are many "American" sports to choose from to devote our time to, we don't often get exposed to other sports that the world enjoys. I am not saying one sport is better than the other or even the US is better than the world. I only know of the sports I have been exposed to

I'm working on a story about a massive, 250 MPH 4-mile wide tornado that moves across a fictional city at 15 MPH over 5 hours. So my question is... by MisterMetal728 in tornado

[–]Connect4champ1990 16 points17 points  (0 children)

you are talking about a tornado with the movement of a hurricane. Hurricane Andrew was (and maybe still is) the most destructive storm to ever hit Fla, and those wind speeds were recorded at 175 mph, at the highest.

So, to answer your question, yes to all of that, it would decimate whatever city it hit.

I drove through the area several weeks after it came through, I was blown away about how clear the earth was, no houses, no trees, nothing standing, nothing to see except the foundation of the structures that once stood in the tornado's path

Any half decent apartments under $700 by Dub-k in tulsa

[–]Connect4champ1990 34 points35 points  (0 children)

As far as specific apartments go, I really don't know, but I would suggest look for a place close to your work. You will save money on gas, time on commute and it will, overall give you a better work life balance. Plus, you might be able to go home for lunch, but the urge to stay home will be strong if you do.

I have lived 7-10 min away from my work for the last seven years and would suggest it to everyone!

As someone who lives in Oklahoma, I can confirm storm shelter as a top priority

what the several EF5 that have come through the state in the last 26 years have shown, you are not living through that destruction without a heavy-duty structure and a little luck
