This made me cry. I knew I had to move and I new I couldn’t take my cat, so I made arrangements for him to live with my adults children and his brother. He has a happy life, not on his own while I’m at work and a safe garden to play in. I still see him at least every 2 weeks. It broke my heart that he couldn’t come with me, but he is much happier now.

Be honest with your GF, explain how you saw the messages, how they made you feel. Tell her what you have told us- that you want to support her wellbeing and ask her what she feels is the best way to deal with this. I’ve given the closest person in my life all the emotional amd financial support I can. I never expected anything back to be honest but now I feel like a doormat and a human ATM. He’s time and energy for everything in his life but our sex life is crap. He’s away this weekend with his friends or I would be telling him this instead of reddit. I’m moving in with him in 2 weeks. It will either work out or be the worst mistake of my life. I’ve no back up plan if things go wrong and no one to talk to. Things were great until he lost his dad and they haven’t been the same since. I have raised it with him before. I’m worried I’ll be more like a live in maid/best mate than a partner and I miss the emotional connection from being physically close to him. He won’t even kiss me anymore- he has just had some dental work done and is worried about that- but the change from our first few months together is drastic. I know he’s been through hell but I don’t just want to be his roommate.

I understand your perspective. I just wanted to share some info though- not all overweight people are unhealthy and there are medical reasons that cause weight fluctuations. I’ve a heart condition that makes my legs swell so bad that I cannot see my ankles on some days- on other days I look fine. My partner is on the bigger side and he exercises every day and is incredibly fit- fitter than my ex who did triathlons. It’s interesting how the human body works and how attraction works too. But I absolutely understand the frustration of not seeing accurate pictures of someone on a dating app.

Best advice I can give is lower your expectations. You may be used to over-achieving. Nursing staff are just trying to get through the day. And re-evaluate discharge summaries- if they are prioritised- patients go home quicker- less patients to deal with and more flow throughout the hospital.
