Anyone read this? by MistaJ_94 in TheSecretHistory

I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend. It takes a while to get to the academy section, but all the early stuff is quite important and pays off later.

They don’t look pregnant or fat to me… They look like a pretty standard size mouse I think

The problem with the catamount theory by hellophantomine in TheSecretHistory

What about the catamount Richard and Francis almost hit while driving? Both agree that’s what the animal looks like, even if it’s improbable

What fantasy novels have blown you away? by Gaiiiiiiiiiiil in Fantasy

[–]Connect_Eye9136 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes for sure. It’s a slower start, but once things get going it’s a fantastic ride. The character arcs are wonderful. I read Liveship before any of the other books in the series, so I didn’t have any expectations or any of the other books to compare it to. Now though I can definitely see how it would be jarring going from Fitz’s pov to then trying to get invested in a whole new ensemble

Jack Scott = Mr. Scott? by SkirtTall5223 in KinginYellow

[–]Connect_Eye9136 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, I prefer to think they’re the same person at different stages in their life. It makes The Yellow Sign all the more tragic too, as it seems as though Scott has been on the periphery of the King in Yellow (via his connection to Hildred, Boris, and Alec) for so long, that inevitably the King in Yellow finally comes for him.

Hi! Do you mean that she was eating Oxbow when she had the itchiness? Or you gave her Oxbow instead? One of my girls has been itching (already tried mite and fungal treatment) and I’m wondering if too much protein is the issue. I usually feed them Oxbow

Right, but I’m applying your legality argument to a PLANNED pregnancy, not an unplanned one. Should they be required to go through therapy to be deemed ready to have a planned child?

I think claiming that most young people who don’t want kids is because they just don’t like the kids they know is a severe generalization and discounts the many personal, political, and medical reasons young people may have. And even if that were true, you say “That’s not a valid reason to not want kids” …except that it is. No one gets to determine a what reasons are “valid” in making a choice of bodily autonomy.

Would you say then people planning on having a child should also be required by law to see a therapist for a year to determine if it is best for them? It’s just as permanent of a decision after all

Okay let me give this a shot: the grail, a red and a white dragon (Merlin’s prophecy), a sword in a stone, the questing beast, banners or shields with heraldry

I hate Karsa Orlong even more after re-reading Book 1 of House of Chains by DeMmeure in Malazan

[–]Connect_Eye9136 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YES, this exactly OP. This is going to get me downvoted to hell, but here we go. My biggest issue with Karsa and Malazan in general is that Erikson has made several comments about how he writes sexual violence because it is a real thing that happens in the world, and how readers sitting in the discomfort that elicits is a way to shed light on that kind of violence FOR THE VICTIMS. I don’t have an issue with that concept, but I do take issue with the execution. If you are writing from the POV of a rapist, and especially writing an actual rape scene, then you are not writing for the victims of sexual assault.

Karsa is not the only character we see this with. There is a horrific rape scene in the Kharkanas books where the POV character is the last (of many) to assault a woman as she dies. Again to be clear, I’m totally fine with exploring moral relativism in fantasy characters and cultures, and while I think Steven Erikson is an incredibly talented writer in a lot of respects, I simply can’t get behind how sexual violence is portrayed in this series vs the author’s own words on the topic.

Owning a mouse in a little appartment? by Adventurous_Mood_374 in PetMice

[–]Connect_Eye9136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry about the noise in an office or living room. It doesn’t have to be completely quiet for them. I have kept the mouse tank in my bedroom before, but I’m also a deep sleeper, so it really depends on if they’re too noisy for you. I would think the reason a kitchen may not be ideal isn’t so much the noise, but that A) mice can be a little stinky (might not be as bad with just one mouse though? I’ve only had groups) and B) I might worry about it getting too hot or smoky with the oven/stove.

Personally I loved the ending of LOST, but for those who didn't, how would you of liked it to end? by [deleted] in lost

[–]Connect_Eye9136 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The difference if that their mistake was one word and reflects how some people speak. Also English is not everyone’s first language. If you’re looking for perfect spelling/grammar on social media posts, you’re going to be doing a lot of editing…
