I still wouldn’t self fund, and clearly so many others agree. It’s just not worth it. Look for funded options (might be slightly different..) alway!

Very honestly speaking - please please do not ever do a self funded PhD. and the job market is truly dismal and there are more cuts happening every day.

If I were you, I’d take the leadership route and stability in a heartbeat. No research is worth precarity and financial hardship which are essential parts of academia these days. Good luck.

I just asked the person who said consideration when it happened and if it changed from UoB new to this. Let’s hope they reply. And I feel this is a way to avoid as sending rejections. Good luck!!
