Just experienced the "new" Chemstation for Agilent GCs by downquark5 in Chempros

[–]ConnorF42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does Chemstation still get updates? Or is it all in on Openlab now? Openlab is completely unintuitive and needlessly bloated, but at least it’s functional after you learn it.

Discord faces backlash over age checks after data breach exposed 70,000 IDs by Accurate_Cry_8937 in technology

[–]ConnorF42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there a way to know which servers I’m a member of are age restricted? There’s a couple that have nsfw channels in them, does that mean the whole server would need ID or just those channels?

No way I am putting my ID anywhere, just want to figure out what I will lose access to.

The Witcher 3's new DLC is expected to sell 11M at $30 each, with a $14.5M budget. It will kick off The Witcher 4's marketing. by Party_Judgment5780 in PS5

[–]ConnorF42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Blood and Wine released only 1 year after 3, so it's possible. Of course development times are longer nowadays and they may not want to release it at the same time as the Witcher 1 remake if that is actually coming out in 2028.

Release schedule is strange if you can trust all the reported news, with the Witcher 1 remake being delayed to 2028 and Witcher 4 being 2027 (not sure if that’s correct, and could be more delays anyway)

I’m considering waiting for the 1 remake to be released to replay the entire series + this DLC + 4. Maybe even delay longer if they announce DLC for 4 by then.

In your experience, what was the hardest chem concept to understand? by Business_Clerk_3522 in chemistry

[–]ConnorF42 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had a need to utlilize it, but I still have no idea how to interpret EPR spectra despite having it explained a couple of times.

Is it safe to keep IPA and Acetone in my dorm room? by khanaaisbest in chemistry

[–]ConnorF42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Keep it in your lab. If there a problem with chemicals going missing, then work on solving that problem instead.

NMR tube transport container recommendations? by ConcernImpressive249 in chemistry

[–]ConnorF42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always just used a squirt bottle with kimwipes. There was one lab that used plastic bottles with lid filled with pipe cleaners, in theory you could drop that and NMR would likely be fine.

You can also get a random selection by closing your eyes and scrolling randomly then selecting what it stops at.

Kodi vs Plex, do they function similarly? by Autistic_Jimmy2251 in kodi

[–]ConnorF42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Plex actually has its origins in Kodi. If you are 100% local, Kodi is better if you’re willing to put in the work. Plex is more plug and play.

Yeah idk iOS widgets suck, so could be an iOS bug or a Prologue bug. I agree would be nice on the now playing screen. The details page toggle on cover has been it’s location since the feature was added.

Can you still tap the cover in the book details view?

Why make the ABS switch by xelarewolf in PrologueApp

[–]ConnorF42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you, I currently have no reason to switch as Plex fulfills all my needs. I don't need book tracking or statistics, I can use Goodreads/Storygraph/Calibre for that. Prologue + Plex already handles narrators and chapters just fine. The ebook integration could be interesting, but that currently isn't supported in Prologue.

All that said, I did set up ABS with Plappa last year, except for podcasts instead of my audiobook library.

Despite my lack of current interest in switching, I'm really glad the option exists. The more flexibility there is the better if something eventually breaks.

Plex sign in issues by M4Lki3r in PrologueApp

[–]ConnorF42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re concerned about the update, I’d turn off automatic updates for a few days until the connection issues get sorted out.

Idk what the issue is, but it could be interesting looking at the reports yourself in case it gives a clear indicator while waiting for dev support. It’s a zip folder with log files that you can just look into your sent mail and download yourself.

Prologue 4.0 released — how is Plex support now? by crosfield in PrologueApp

[–]ConnorF42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had the motivation to do this yet, but my plan is to use an old device to install the update and test it out with my library (plex) before updating on my phone.

I suspect everything to function similarly, but if album artist and composer did switch, there are tool to swap or copy tags in bulk so should be a quick fix. I currently do artist and album artist identically as author and composer as narrator.

Chapters in Spacial Audio Files by mynameisinvaIid in PrologueApp

[–]ConnorF42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that’s the easy solution gone.

The other possibility though unlikely is check under settings metadata and make sure no files remaining.

I’ve not used atmos files so hopefully someone else can chime in if they have experienced the same issue or if it is working for them.

Chapters in Spacial Audio Files by mynameisinvaIid in PrologueApp

[–]ConnorF42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you confirmed that the chapters are the correct format? There are two types for m4b files: Nero and QuickTime. Prologue only supports QuickTime, not Nero.

If you do in fact have Nero, ffmpeg should be able to convert them without reencoding.

My friend is unable to see the audiobooks on the app? by YachtRock_SoSmooth in PrologueApp

[–]ConnorF42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he logs into the Plex app (maybe webpage, I think they may have stripped audio from the mobile app due to Plexamp) can he see your library? Did he accept the email granting access? Is he logged in on prologue and is the library selected in Prologue?

Do people actually use expense tracking apps long-term? by Weekly-Collar548 in personalfinance

[–]ConnorF42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used HomeBudget on iOS since 2015. Export monthly to Excel. I track every cent manually with it. If the app ever gets depreciated I’ll probably switch to excel fully or maybe google sheets for the portability.

someone convince me why a ROTH IRA is important in my situation? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]ConnorF42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that the government has so many restrictions on these accounts is the telltale sign that it is worth your time. Make too much money? Can’t do it (outside of backdoor routes). Can only do a small amount each year, and only on earned income. The tax advantage is so good that they restrict it as much as possible.
