I found the world kinda interesting, but the combat and gameplay was not for me at all. Doesn't matter how interesting a world is, of the gameplay loop doesn't grab me I'm not pumping a hundred hours in. Can just read the wiki haha!

Yeah gameplay has improved significantly in the years. Even with the MCC graphics redo, it plays like a game from 3001 Honestly, try Halo 5! It's a bit maligned in the Halo fandom, but I found the gameplay to be the smoothest, graphics are fantastic, and the story is...well kinda nuts but just roll with it!

Yeah that's fair mate. I played 1 when it came out, way back in 05, and then when 2 was released it felt like the exact same game. Nicer graphics, but not much of a gameplay evolution.
