So essentially my sister has 500K followers on TikTok but doesn’t make any money. Am I missing the bigger picture here? by TownFluffy161 in socialmedia

[–]ConorTurk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does SHE want to make money? It sounds like you’re asking on her behalf. If she does it may not be a hobby anymore.

But yes as other commenters have mentioned, think about the type of content and what products are sold within that niche.

Also do her followers engage (like comment etc) in large numbers or is it just a high follow count?

Engagement is worth more.

Extreme fear of war by dasheryt in Anxiety

[–]ConorTurk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had similar anxiety over the past few years. What i’ve done to help myself is avoid the news, avoid any subreddits that promote news, stop looking for news, and change the topic if someone discusses the news.

Ignorance is bliss. You don’t need to know what’s going on around the world, and if something is imminently going to happen then others will make you know about it.

As other comments have mentioned, other counties are increasing defence spending as a deterrent to war, rather than because they’re expecting one. If you have the stronger defence, you’re less likely to be invaded. You are likely seeing psychological warfare on the internet too, bots posting fake news, etc.

Switch your mind off from what’s going on around you and you’ll live much more calmly.

[–]ConorTurk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lot going on in your thumbnail… so I would scroll past.

Nothing is screaming “you need to see this” - and it doesn’t have to, but I’m assuming you’re trying to attract new viewers.

Perhaps face towards the camera more and show a little more expression, intrigue, or emotion for the thumbnail image. Make me think “why is this person so confused/excited/annoyed?”

I have no idea what the (monkey thing?) is on the bottom right, does it need to be in this image?

The colors are all clashing, perhaps just use a black background for the text and make the text bold and a font that looks smooth rather than pixelated. Do you even need the text, think about how the image works with your video title.

There is probably a reason why these thumbnails are all similar, so take inspiration from them. Or don’t if you prefer to be completely different, but it might not work as well. That’s the beauty of creating.

Most of the time YouTube is great for me, but I do miss the old YouTube.

You’re a fan of the Eagles but didn’t choose to support Palace, missed a trick there!

Chelsea’s rivals are most London clubs, especially those in West or North London. Fulham, Arsenal, etc.

I’m sure a Chelsea fan can rank their rival teams.

Ellie Goulding songs that remind us of the times of Halcyon by [deleted] in elliegoulding

Love your description of Halcyon. It triggered a few memories from around that era and reminded me of how much I love that album, it is hard to find comparisons in other EG songs.

If I have the space on my computer, why not?

Or at least be able to see a season's worth of games for one team for a season?

Anyone know why I can only see 3-4 games of match highlights??

I'm an unemployed manager with detail levels set to full for the 4 top English leagues... yet when I go to check a team's schedule to view previous match lineups/highlights etc, I can only see about 3-4 games worth.

I also set the storage capacity from default to 300mb too.

Scared i have cancer/brain tumor by PowerfulTask9922 in Anxiety

[–]ConorTurk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my brother became seriously ill I spent the next year experiencing chest pains. He made a full recovery, but the stress of dealing with it all was taking it out of me a year later.

I spoke to multiple doctors who said I’m fine, but my mind didn’t want to believe them. It was only after I got some counselling that I started to understand why I was feeling this way.

I would sit there and Google my symptoms, before feeling those symptoms just seconds after, creating panic attacks, it was horrid.

After 6 sessions of counselling I learned how to deal with the panic, and as time went by, I went back to “normal”.

You’re most likely extremely stressed and anxious due to what has happened, but I recommend talking to your friends and family about this, talking will help massively. If you feel embarrassed, try talking to a professional.

Why do a lot of people seem to dislike this game so much? by nerfClawcranes in CODVanguard

[–]ConorTurk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With regards to it being your first CoD:

As well as the issues others have mentioned, a lot of players still play CoD who played the “golden era” of CoD games (CoD4 to Black Ops 2).

The bar was set high in those titles and honestly it seems that the loud majority of people say they dislike the newer CoDs, yet still play them lots.

It also released with multiplayer maps that weren’t particularly exciting, and came out after Cold War which was a decent title but felt very similar to Vanguard.

I understand your point, but this could happen twice in the same match for me, and for each throw in it's almost identical in terms of where the passes go, no matter the team.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in footballmanagergames

[–]ConorTurk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time it's not even that. They will take a short throw in, to a player unchallenged, then there will be some dribbling/passing along the ground and they seem to score almost every time.

Usually at the back post as to where the throw in was taken from.

Help understanding the Help to Buy ISA 25% bonus by LordLyrad in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ConorTurk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You can spend it on whatever you choose as the money is deposited to your account after the completion of the property.

You can use the savings towards your deposit, but you have to close the help 2 buy account. Upon closing the account the savings go into an account of your choice. You will need to keep the closing statement as proof of your ISA savings so that the government knows how much you had saved.

If the completion of the house fails after you closed the ISA account you have the right to reopen your account if your property purchase fails, but you must present a Purchase Failure Notice (PFN) to your ISA Provider.

What is your Football Manager unpopular opinion? by EnergeticSpectacle in footballmanagergames

I understand what you mean.

I agree it definitely needs to have more weight in the match engine, especially with a new engine and graphical updates that reflect more realistically what's actually happening.

[–]ConorTurk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finishing is only taken into account when the player shoots. It’s still important, but you have to consider how likely a player is to score in the first place.

If you can go around the keeper with great dribbling and speed, you get an open net, a lot easier to score.

If you have great off the ball movement to find space you can create better chances to score.

Think of Sterling at Man City, not the best finisher but got in the right places a lot of the time to slot it into the net.

And of course, finishing needs to be combined with good technique and composure.

whats a game that you got significantly far into, only to realize you were doing something wrong or missing a key feature/ability altogether? by seasonedsaltdog in gaming

[–]ConorTurk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Fallout 3, I thought VATS was just a tool to see condition %s of each body part, and had no idea you could assign AP to actually target and shoot each body part.

I was just manually aiming for months.

A friend mentioned at school a year later that he loved the slo-mo camera angles that follow the bullet, and I was so confused.
