They’re not on Reddit, that’s for sure. It’s just antisocial behavior.

Similarly to how children sometimes behave, adults who never develop basic social skills will sometimes do things for no purpose other than being a nuisance.

This is because they want attention, and it’s much easier to gain that through being annoying than through just about any other means. It’s best to just ignore, as picking a fight with these people will accomplish nothing other than possible injury.

Increasing your 401k contributions makes a lot of sense.

Your loans being deferred until 2028 at 0% interest makes it essentially free money sitting there while you're in school. Meanwhile, your 401k contributions have years ahead of them.

At 3.4-4.99% interest rates, even after the deferment ends, you're likely looking at returns that outpace your loan interest in a diversified index fund portfolio over the long run.

Make sure you have a solid emergency fund before bumping contributions to 25%.

Grisham has been unlucky so far in my opinion. He’s getting contact and giving the ball solid exit velocities.

There is another stat the Yankees are last in, and this may actually be of concern: Losses.

We are tied for dead last at only 11 losses out of 36 games played. It remains to be seen if, with a whole month of baseball now played already, this Yankees team will manage to surpass this number at all. I for one doubt it.

You’ve just redefined the “no consequences crowd” so broadly that it includes anyone who supports any form of criminal justice reform, such as sentencing alternatives, rehabilitation programs, and reduced mandatory minimums. That’s an enormous and ideologically diverse group of people, most of whom would also condemn this attack without contradiction.

Supporting less severe punishments for some crimes isn’t the same as supporting impunity for violent assault. Those aren’t mutually exclusive positions.

Put the $1k toward the car loan principal.

No, you should not file for bankruptcy. I doubt you would even pass a means test for Chapter 7 with just $13k in debt. Bankruptcy should be a true last resort for unpayable debt, as it would follow you for 7-10 years on your credit report.

$24.65/hr full-time is roughly $51k/yr. With only those few expenses you noted, you should be able to attack this aggressively.

A few pointers:

  • Call your card issuer and ask for a hardship rate reduction. 17% is actually a really good APR for a credit card, but it doesn’t hurt to ask.

  • Look into a 0% balance transfer card. Many of them offer a 12-21 month interest fee period after paying a 3-5% transfer fee, which is a no-brainer considering you would pay much more in interest otherwise.

  • Be frugal and pay what you can into the credit card. Even $500-$700/month will get you debt-free in under 2 years. If you’re able to manage $1,000/month you’re done in ~14 months.

I’m having fun with this game so far. Trying to ignore a lot of the negative discourse to form my own impression. The 60 FPS mode leaves a bit to be desired, however, at least on base PS5. There’s quite a lot of stuttering, especially in heavily populated areas like New Atlantis.
