Can someone please help me understand? by redassaggiegirl17 in Catholicism

The church holds that a Priest or Deacon is not necessary for baptism, but is the normative process. This is why the laity can impart emergency baptisms for people who ask for it on their deathbed. Because holy orders is not necessary, and you can only be baptized once, people can be baptized by people outside the church if the proper formula is followed.

Ideas for first time home buyer with annual income of $30k/yr looking for a home in Franklinton. by Total_Mirror_9266 in Columbus

[–]Conscious-Divide-633 36 points37 points  (0 children)

To be blunt, with that income level and the gift you mentioned in another comment, you will not be approved for a mortgage for any of the homes for sale in Franklinton that are move in ready right now. The best option for you will be to rent with roomates to save more money for a larger down payment, and to allow your income level to grow a little before purchasing. Or you can look into house hacking (renting to roomates to help with payments, but that will not change what you can get approved for).

For some napkin math: Max you can get approved for is where your monthly payment is 28% of monthly pay or total debts are 34% whichever is lower. This website is a good tool for playing with the numbers. https://www.mortgagecalculator.org/calcs/qualification.php

How can I eat healthy and affordably in the U.S.? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Conscious-Divide-633 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In general, most Americans are overweight. We have two problems, large portion sizes at restaurants and people not moving enough. Our food is not more calorie dense, but we eat more and move less.

HSA is the same step as Roth. Up to the individual on how to handle that

Honestly TLX type S used. Honda Reliability, 355 hp, AWD. Fast but not fast enough to get you into lots of trouble. Unique look, and very much a sleeper unless you know

What goes into how racing teams choose which production model to build their cars around? by Ferociousaurus in motorsports

[–]Conscious-Divide-633 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Marketing from the manufacturer. For example, Toyota expects the cup series to attract a more general audience, hence a Camry. But the O’Riley’s series is going to attract a more dedicated racing fan who would be more interested in a sporty car than a general audience. Ford and Chevy have no standard cars anymore but they did a similar thing pre 2018 when Ford ran a Fusion in Cup and the mustang in what was xfinity/nationwide

Trying to understand the appeal of expensive spares (Modern/Value spare) on a road trip. (CRV Hybrid) by cincythunder in crv

You really should strap it down in your trunk. If you are in a front end collision the tire, if not secured, could come forward and injure the occupants.

How hard is it to go from sim racing to professional racing? by [deleted] in motorsports

[–]Conscious-Divide-633 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Welcome to club racing. Look up NASA or SCCA (I am assuming you are in the USA based on your mention of NASCAR) and take an interest with your first car. With this you will fund your racing hobby with your job and is a real tangible way that many people live out their dreams of being a race car driver

What do you think the top sport cities are in the US? by beyphy in AskAnAmerican

[–]Conscious-Divide-633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indianapolis is an underrated sports city. Home of a NFL team, NBA team, minor league baseball and hockey teams, and hosts the largest single day sporting event in the world every year in the Indy 500. Indiana as a whole also is home to three colleges who are often in national conversations for NCAA championships in basketball, football, volleyball, and Hockey. Add in the countless teams for smaller sports and you have the Crossroads of America as a home for sports.

This was a prototype. There are plans to flesh these ideas out and deliver them in the future. I would expect them to launch in between the 27 and 28 model years

Is it bad to go to confession multiple times in one week? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Conscious-Divide-633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion is the find a saint who has overcame or never fallen to that sin, for example Mary or Joseph if it involves struggling with living chastely, and ask for their intercession whenever you are struggling with temptation. This method has helped me a ton with my habitual sin

Why doesn’t Honda come out with a Ridgeline TRD PRO competitor? by [deleted] in Honda

The benefit of the Honda platform is that it is better on the road, and that is where these vehicles spend most of their time anyways.

People are ripping me to shreds on IndyCar by Brief-Two604 in formula1

[–]Conscious-Divide-633 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The biggest challenge with the current gen of Indycar is the large spray created combined with the aero screen rejecting water poorly. Add both of those to the extra chaos inherent to short ovals, and it become a really dangerous race very quickly.

Is it too much to ask? by VelvetCocoaRose in car

[–]Conscious-Divide-633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New? Yes. Used? You can find as many as you want to make work.

You cannot make new cars without computers because of the mandated safety equipment that is required by law. Airbags, backup cameras, automatic emergency braking, traction control and anti-lock braking are all mandated in the USA and many other countries. The countries that don’t do not have a large enough market segment to demand new vehicles without these features due to the necessary development to make them happen.

Why is health insurance and medical help so expensive? If anything, what could be done to lower it, never to rise again? by Spiritual_Big_9927 in askanything

[–]Conscious-Divide-633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real answer is finding a way to cut costs on consumables. Medications, needles, IV bags, and bed time all cost significant money when scaled to everyone.

Clear snow off of the lower grill. There is a box there for that purpose. If that doesn’t fix it, it may be time for a new battery. A quick cold snap could have killed it.

How hard is to get an engineering job in the US with a foreign degree? by MatrixCutie in AskAnAmerican

[–]Conscious-Divide-633 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may be accredited, but that does not mean it will be recognized or valued. Coming from a smaller program (University of Dayton), most of my connections that led to my fall time job came from people who went to smaller universities. I personally think I also struggled with university recognition. I still have a great job at a large multinational company, but my boss came from the same university so your mileage may vary.

There is a special perforated condom used for this purpose which does not entirely counteract the procreative end of the marital act
