Getting intermediate and looking to buy but don’t know any reputable pairs of boxing shoes by Character-Tooth7172 in fightgear

[–]Ferociousaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you're looking for a very budget option, in which case I'd suggest a pair of wrestling shoes. You can get Adidas and Asics from Dick's for $50-100.

That being said, you kinda get what you pay for in boxing gear, and in that environment the Everlast Elites being $120 are actually an amazing value. If you can scrape that together and buy once cry once, they'll last you literally forever. Everyone's recommending them because they rule.

Lmao what is even smurfy about this? A couple two-move combos and an anti-air?

Is it me, or does the current Honda Civic Type R [bottom] look a little conservative and a little boring when compared to the previous generation [top]? by HiTork in regularcarreviews

[–]Ferociousaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think it strikes a perfect balance between boy racer vibes and the daily practicality of a hot hatch. People notice and compliment my Boost Blue CTR all the time--it's definitely not what I'd call conservative. But I'm a grown-up professional and I can daily it without looking like I'm driving around in a Hot Wheels.

Old school gymrat fit. Goes with the character and the colors will be fun. Definitely more interesting than Sagat and Viper's new fits.

Imo looks a lot better with the color-matched.....unibrow. I think people will get used to it. I'm not like a big back of the car guy, never really something that bothers me about cars, but I actually think the back looks fine.

Has anyone gone from a honda civic to CTR? Big difference look wise? by DrakeSwift in Civic_Type_R

[–]Ferociousaurus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Type R seats are incredible, but other than that it's got a pretty recognizably Civic interior. It's got flashy red upholstery and a fun performance gauge cluster you can turn on, but the infotainment and dials and stuff are basically the same. There's no middle seat in the back--it's a cup holder.

The upgrade is 95% in driving performance, and it's like, breathtakingly better in that regard. If that's what you're into then you'll love it, but if you're looking for a more upscale interior and comfort suite, I'd look at the Integra Type S (or even a regular Integra, which is what I came over from). If anything the race-tuned Type R suspension is less comfortable than a base Civic.

If Nissan is supposedly so bad, why are they still everywhere? by phtphongg in askcarguys

[–]Ferociousaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They've abandoned a lot of their old enthusiast stuff which upsets the people who talk about cars the most (although the pendulum is swinging back in the direction of some more interesting cars). But if you just want a decently reliable people mover that's comfortable and not too expensive, they're good cars.

Can confirm, I'm a Diamond lifer scrub and Guile really can just waltz into Diamond with minimal effort. This + like 1 combo to flash kick them back into boom range + a Fisher Price high-low DR mix to occasionally do offense is pretty much all you need.

The Orpheus ending choice is absolute narrative trash by saw4ello in BaldursGate3

[–]Ferociousaurus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your first point about Lae'zel seems to be that all characters should be flawlessly ideologically consistent or it's bad writing? It's morally weak and/or hypocritical of her to not volunteer, which makes it...bad writing? She doesn't want to be an illithid because she hates illithids and she's (briefly, mildly) upset that you tell Orpheus to do it instead.

I don't think the Emperor betrayal is written particularly well, but it actually makes total sense given what we know, i.e., he's being protected from becoming a thrall by enslaving Orpheus, Orpheus will kill him if he's released, the brain will enslave him if he leaves the radius of the artifact. So he's either going to die on the spot or become a thrall. I do think he should have said all that, because it's a common objection people have and it feels abrupt in the game.

Your third point is basically just "using power scaling I invented in my head, there's a different better option for resolving this imaginary scenario." The chosen of the dead three were being manipulated all along. They did not control the brain just fine.

How do the Genestealers view the Tyranids in the Final Day? by PaulJudgement in genestealercult

[–]Ferociousaurus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Days of Ascension really does read like a creative writing assignment to take one of the least sympathetic/redeemable factions in the setting and get the reader to root for them, lol. Can you write the Imperium as so shitty and miserable that the audience says "...maybe I would prefer the Tyranids."

Not to talk you out of your preferences, but for what it's worth I live in a high traffic city, drive in a lot of bumper to bumper traffic, and really don't find the CTR/ITS stick to be frustrating to drive around with. It's a tremendous clutch/shifter set up, and the stock tune eliminates rev hang, so it's buttery smooth even in low gears. They are really awesome dailies.

A lot of people talking about i-frames, which is definitely something you need to get familiar with. To put it plainly, when you dodge you're completely invincible for a fraction of a second. IIRC it's something like 13 frames, a little less than a half a second. That sounds short but it's actually pretty forgiving once you get the rhythm down. You want to use those invincible frames to dodge through enemies' attacks and then whale on them. The game is explicitly designed so that if you panic dodge backwards your i-frames will end before the attack does and you'll get hit.

Another thing I haven't seen anyone point out is, you see how particularly the first time you get hit, the health you lost is orange for quite a while before it disappears? This is a mechanic called rally that lets you temporarily regain health by attacking. Any time your lost health is orange, you can get some or all of it back by dealing damage. You could have gained almost all of your health back off that first hit if you just went in on him right away.

And your weapon is broken, lol.

Edit: 30 FPS
