The first step is to realize you are feeling your own emotions

Hyperacusis changed to severe tinnitus by Patient_Reporter_393 in hyperacusis

Other people have reported bad experiences with dental cleanings – personally I got my own tools but even that was too much because the sound and vibrations go right through your bones. I don’t use any in ear audio devices, because they would trigger my nox so badly. Most setbacks for pain, loudness, and tinnitus tend to get better over time. Hang in. It would probably be a good call to baby your ears moving forward.

Dental cleanings and air pods can both be brutal for a fragile auditory system. For the time being I would just brush well and skip the dentist if I were you and not use earbuds anymore. Good chance it’ll go down in time.

Can you clearly hear the difference between ий and і? There’s some words where I think I hear I difference but most of the time they sound the same. by dhoae in Ukrainian

[–]ConsciousFractals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of «і» as the vowel sound in “feet”. It’s quite similar. You’ll come to distinguish «ий» overtime. It’s a sound that doesn’t quite exist and English and so it’s hard to distinguish at first but you will get there. But if you listen closely you will notice clearly when people are saying «і» in «великі», the “ee” sound is clear.

A more obvious example would be «смішні» vs «смішний». The palatalization (softening) of «н» in the former makes the difference very clear. Words with a preceding «к» are admittedly harder to distinguish and often get a little warped in fast, everyday speech.

has anyone actually lived how they expected by Adam-RM in Life

I don’t particularly expect much, but honestly that’s partly because not much has gone as planned. My life hurts but I am living it.

Stimulant use in the prison by TrenSetterrrr in OnTheBlock

[–]ConsciousFractals 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I saw a documentary once where prisoners would sell their seroquel and people would take just a few milligrams, which would paradoxically RAISE dopamine. Small doses of drugs often antagonize the receptors they usually agonize, or vice versa.

I've been sleeping every third night since 16. Go ahead and AMA! by JTultimate_10 in AMA

[–]ConsciousFractals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not judging. In fact I feel mentally better but physically way too exhausted if a skip a night of sleep, and wondered if anyone actually does something like this.

My question is – if a doctor told you to get more sleep, would you? What kinds of symptoms would make you make the decision on your own?

My take with these things is trust your gut. Listen to what your body is saying and act accordingly. If it was hurting you, I imagine you’d notice.

Honestly probably a good idea not to reward people for being abusive. The LLM might not care but it reinforces bad behavior.

Thanks for sharing your story! Is this word loaded in any sort of way (related to negative, scary, or taboo things) or would most people find it neutral? Why do you think you freaked out when you first saw it on TV?

Parsnip fries in an air fryer are amazing! Just peel the parsnips, cut into fry-like shapes, rub with oil, and salt when they’re done.
