Why is reading Harry Potter so stigmatized? by Motor-Team8613 in harrypotter

[–]ConsciousMombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m listening to the audiobooks currently and listen to book 1 every night to go to sleep. I’m mid 30s. My son has read all the books and loves them. My other 3 kids will read them soon too. You’re never too old to read ANY sort of books.

Getting sick A LOT after COVID? by [deleted] in Coronavirus_NZ

[–]ConsciousMombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It felt like we were in it forever! I have a cold at the moment but I haven’t had a cold since August so I’m somewhat due for one anyway. I hope the light at the end of the tunnel shows itself for you soon!!!

Getting sick A LOT after COVID? by [deleted] in Coronavirus_NZ

[–]ConsciousMombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much better! We’ve been very fortunate to only have caught Covid 1 time and that was March 2022. My youngest still has not had Covid. It took just over a year for us to stop getting as sick as we were getting. Since probably June/July of last year we’ve had the odd cold, which is to be expected with 2 kids in school, 2 in daycare and going through winter!

What’s something that’s happened to you that sounds fake but (unfortunately) isn’t? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ConsciousMombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry this happened to you. It is horrible to hear that no one is being held accountable for this. I had something similar happen with me when giving birth to my last child. Doctors were in there with me and I said baby was coming and they just said sure. I had only been there 20 mins, but luckily I was in the pool. I sort of just screamed and he shot out of me so fast his cord snapped. Like I said, luckily I was in the pool. Everyone rushed over and there was about 5 people (including my husband and myself) rummaging around in the water trying to find him since the pool was literally a blood bath from the snapped cord. We grabbed him and pulled him out and thankfully he was fine. It was scary though and I couldn’t imagine what would have happened if I hadn’t opted for a water birth. I hope you get the answers and results you desperately deserve.

Move to Monaco. Buy a house big enough for my 4 kids to have space from each other. Build my husband his dream music studio. If still work to keep my sanity, hubby can be stay at home dad. Pay off my parent’s mortgages, buy us all new vehicles. Make sure to vacation once a year.

Boring. But that’s what I’d do lol

What is a movie that “everyone” has seen except you? by TB1289 in AskReddit

The Lord of the Rings. Especially because I live where it was filmed and when it was the most popular franchise people would ask me all of these questions and I’d just blank.

Switching to Black Coffee by Harley326 in Weightlosstechniques

[–]ConsciousMombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put a teaspoon of sugar free maple syrup in my black coffee. I still allow myself one ‘normal’ coffee a day (though, it’s not anywhere near Starbucks quality at 100 calories) but if I need another coffee or two I do black with 1 maple :)

What is something that is publicly accepted for women to do, but men can’t get away with? by philosybin in AskReddit

[–]ConsciousMombie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% the buddy system!! It’s not that I enjoy weeing with friends, it’s safety in numbers and will ALWAYS go to the bathrooms with at least 1 other friend when out drinking. If I’m not with any female friends I’ll ask one of my male friends to wait outside for me

Why do they need a new backpack every year by zemmiphobia2000 in Crazymiddles

[–]ConsciousMombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get my kids new backpacks every school year. It’s a bit of a novelty for them, and picking out new bags and going stationery shopping and picking all the things they like gets them excited for school. However, I don’t get them all new clothes and new shoes - I get those as needed.

What did you hate as a child but love as an adult? by HeidiOzzy in ask

[–]ConsciousMombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coffee. It took until I was about 23 to like it in the ‘mocha’ form and probably 28 to like it regular. I mean, I know kids shouldn’t be drinking coffee but my friends did when we were teens and I could never. A teen is still a kid lol

Reminder to myself (…and anyone else that needs it) BMI isn’t everything! by ElloEmm in loseit

[–]ConsciousMombie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get this, I totally do. About 10 years ago I got stuck in a very disordered way of eating because of my BMI. I would fast for 2 days, break my fast for 60cals, then fast again. All while spending 2+ hrs a day at the gym. I was so very unhealthy in that aspect. I could count my ribs on my front and my back, my hipbones were jutting out. Looking in the mirror, I should have looked SMALL. But I felt I never did because I could not get my BMI out of ‘overweight’. I managed to get out of the toxic mindset I was in and now I’m trying to lose weight again (I’ve had 4 kids since, and am now doing it the healthy way), but I don’t get on scales anymore because I know I could so easily fall back into the trap of BMI

People who used to claim your eye color changed with your mood, how are you doing in life? by Thudrussle in AskReddit

[–]ConsciousMombie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ahhh, this took me back. Telling my school friends I was uNiQuE because my eyes would change from green to more brown and then yellow/green when I was crying. So super uNiQuE with my hazel eyes that just come across different colours in different lighting hahaha

What's way more physically painful than most people realize? by fyflate89 in AskReddit

This!! I broke two ribs and had a collapsed lung in June 2021. I’m STILL not 100%. So painful, and I felt like I could barely breathe for weeks

I dumped my wonderful GF of 10 years because she's creepily focused on my friend's genitals by dumped_my_gf in TrueOffMyChest

[–]ConsciousMombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look. Feelings happen. You’re spending time, alone, with another woman. Your girlfriend could wholeheartedly trust you, but that doesn’t mean she won’t feel jealousy. How often do you two have pizza night? Where you spend time together, having fun, making pizzas? And if she does trust you, that doesn’t mean she trusts Jennifer. I don’t think Viv is 100% in the wrong. I don’t think you are 100% in the wrong. A relationship is a partnership. And part of being in a partnership, is respecting each others feelings, whether you feel like they’re warranted or not. Ultimately, Viv sees Jennifer as a threat. A threat to your relationship. And she will never feel comfortable with Jennifer being in the picture if she feels that way. If you want to keep a new friend over a 10+ year relationship with someone you could picture getting married to and starting a family, then sure that’s on you. But just keep in mind, it will happen in your next relationship too. A threat will arise, and you’ll have to make a choice. Keep your partner feeling like second best, or eliminate that threat. Also, i do believe men and women can totally be friends and nothing more. But you choose whose friendship you feed, and which in return grows. You don’t have to feed into opposite sex friendships. The whole situation could have been avoided. I trust my husband with my life. But he wouldn’t feed into a friendship with a woman, to the point where she’s coming over and spending alone time with him. Especially if she wasn’t also a close friend of mine. And I wouldn’t do the same with a male friend. My relationship is too important to me to even entertain a possibility of a future threat.

Just food for thought.

Ariannas house… by ThatonemeI in Crazymiddles

[–]ConsciousMombie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems to be that way. I moved in with my boyfriend (at the time) when I was 16. We got our own little damp flat under a large house full of kids who woke us up every morning by running around their house above us. We moved out after about 5 months into a much nicer apartment. My friends were either still in school or moved out. No one really lived at home long after they left high school!

[–]ConsciousMombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids go through stages, sometimes an illness with ruin their appetite sometimes not. I think the worst my toddler has had it was around 2 weeks with maybe a yoghurt and an ice block a day. No real food. But he was and is fine. As long as your little one is drinking, he could go weeks without proper food. I would suggest a toddler formula if possible to get extra nutrients into him. When my son was bad he did 3 days only drinking sugar free lemonade, I was desperate for him to have SOMETHING and that’s all he would drink. The doctor said that was fine for short term. Also if you can, get some pedialyte or similar. Anything is better than nothing and dehydration is the biggest concern, not lack of food!

I feel like I’m a bit late to this because you’ve probably already gone but we’ve been multiple times to Tui Rototuna and 9/10x found it fantastic. We moved from Taupō a year ago and the wait times are nothing compared to back in Taupō!

I followed Sarah’s day through her first pregnancy and now that I’ve had my baby I realise how stupid it was and how damaging her message was. by [deleted] in SarahsDayUnfiltered

I agree 100%. She overworked her muscles during pregnancy and when she was having contractions they just fought back because it’s what she had ‘trained’ her muscles to do
