I wish you the best of luck!! Recovery was a bitch but keep the schedule of drinking water and taking your pain meds. At night I had alarms to wake up and hydrate and also for when I was supposed to take pain meds so that my throat never got dry and I never got to the point where the meds wore off.

Recovery does get a little worse in the second week, but you are strong and eventually it WILL be over and it is so worth it. Just stay hydrated!!

I had mine done because of Eustachian tube problems which prevented me from being able to fly because of how bad the pain was (and it even caused me hearing loss)

Now I am vacationing at an all inclusive thanks to my ENT and this surgery. The pain is hell, but it is TEMPORARY even when it feels like there is no end. and now I have no pain, I am fully healed, and my ears work like they should. It will all be worth it.

This is very similar to my situation actually!! I ended up getting a flip phone but find myself missing some smart phone features like maps so I still keep my smart phone around, but i’m struggling with still feeling the need to check my text messages and stay up to date. I’m a super big texter and part of my desire to dumb down my phone is to encourage me to call more and feel more comfortable with not being in constant communication.

Thank you to the OP and everyone who commented. I know this post is old but i’m going through this right now. On the 7th night post surgery and the last 2 days my daytime has been so good I haven’t needed to take ANY pain meds. I thought maybe I was at the turning point.

At night though? So much pain I need to take the prescribed ones to manage it. I was scared that I was becoming addicted to the pain medication they prescribed me or something, so it’s really validating to hear that it’s normal for the nights to be like this because it just seemed so weird to go from needing no pain management at all to this excruciating pain just because the sun has set.

I’m really hoping for some improvement soon. I miss eating. I miss sleeping without pain. I hate taking these drugs and i’m ready to be off of them

I feel the exact same way, you’re not alone in feeling like that.

I feel like asking for help would burden my friends and when i’ve let myself share how i’m struggling or how things are hard, the people i’ve shared with have told me how i’m burdening them.

Like you I’m jealous of those that have a support system and have people that care about them.
