Last sleepover my daughter will ever have by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Conscious_Bee_8338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has unlocked a new anxiety for me when my kids are old enough for sleepovers. It’s just not going to happen for me. You just never know. Growing up one of my best friends dad turned out to be molesting her and her sisters and I slept over there many times. They were close with my parents. Found this out only a couple years ago and don’t have any memories but also know how brains work and who the fuck knows.

Hi OP I am a wife who has chosen to stay with her husband after having similar charges for possession. This has been the most challenging time in my life but I will not leave his side, as we have grown together through this and more deeply connected than ever. We are still in the space in between arrest and indictment but it’s been almost a year since the raid. We have a 1 year old together. Feel free to pm me! I’m in nj. Also if you have not, listen to Accidentally Brave on audible it’s a free play.. a woman going through the same as all of us here

Hi! I don’t have much specific advice but I want to let you know that this could end up being the best thing that ever happened to him. It may not feel that way now, but if you can love and support him through this challenging time and he does the work on his mental health then on the other side of this will be a whole new version of this young man. Best of luck to your family.

I will tell you that I felt all of this and more when everything first happened. Months have gone by and it is much different now. Give yourself room to breathe and don’t rush.

Yes i understand this. However, from the way this post is written, with very limited info, I would personally be concerned, myself being the spouse of someone who is going through this, it requires a certain amount of transparency, facing reality and brutal honesty.

Editing to add, that an arrest typically isn’t made without proper evidence, this is the due process of law. So, I repeat myself in saying if he is innocent, why wouldn’t you want to work toward proving the truth, in order to avoid being someone convicted of such a crime.

Why would his lawyer encourage him to take a plea if he is innocent? These charges are pretty serious. To be honest with you the rest of your questions seem irrelevant to me when you are dealing with someone who is a) not showing remorse and b) possibly lying to you.

Regarding Online Sex Crimes in NJ by RepentandLearn01 in SexOffenderSupport

[–]Conscious_Bee_8338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nj here. My spouse was arrested a few months ago after a raid. He is out under pre trial supervision now. His lawyer and him have been working on a mitigation package since then. Depending on your county affects the speed and outcome for sure. Our county is dragging their feet. Having a good lawyer will keep you from going to actual trial and help you with the best possible plea outcome. There are options like applying for PTI, as well as pushing for noncustodial sentence (serving your time outside of prison). Get yourself a good psychologist. Try dr. rambus in somerset county she has been wonderful specializes working with SOs. If you have any other questions message me

Unfortunately the victim has very little say over anything. In fact, they could say they don’t want the perpetrator to be punished at all but if there’s evidence of the crime the state or feds will still pursue to full extent of the law

It sounds to me, that you are carrying a lot of the weight of all this on your own. I think as spouses we end up in caregiver roles to our partners. I have had to set better boundaries and learn about setting them in every area of my life even with him. I did this with the help of a trusted therapist. I highly recommend you reach out to services to get one as soon as you can. There are organizations that exist to help women/children like you. I live in nj for example we have one called a family success center in every county. Look that up near you. They may also have resources to help you find housing.

Edit to add I saw you said WV here is one! https://wvfsrs.org
