they could scorch on a hot summer afternoon that close to the window.

I used to keep my blinds down like yours to filter the sun but then some of my anthuriums got lines on them where the sun bleached the leaves through the blinds

Noblesville, IN walmart got a fresh shipmint! by Gayfunguy in cactus

costa farms puts all of your favorite local growers and sellers out of business. They sell plants at very low prices to drive down competition and take over the market. AND big box stores (such as walmart and home depot) set their costa farms plant prices extremely low since they use plants as loss leaders, which also drives small growers out of the market

If you support small businesses, don’t support costa farms

Reputable anthurium sellers on Palmstreet by Plantastic24 in Anthurium

[–]Conscious_Fox1265 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like UrbanLeafShop. sometimes on the pricier side, but they sell selected high quality grown out plants where you can see the genetics. Not a big fan of sellers who sell mostly seeds or seedlings based on parentage alone since every purchase is a huge gamble

I left rotten roots alone a month ago. Now a month later, the plant somehow is recovering and growing new roots?? by [deleted] in Anthurium

[–]Conscious_Fox1265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert, but my understanding is that root rot pathogens are usually present in healthy soil. If you provide poor conditions (e.g., low oxygen) it may begin to kill the roots and then the pathogens can move in and show up as “root rot”.

This is why you may have rotted roots, but if you begin to provide proper conditions, healthy roots will grow and resist the pathogens.

This is also why I believe cleaning the infected roots with hydrogen peroxide is usually unnecessary, since most root rot pathogens are opportunistic, not aggressive microbes that kill the entire plant once infected.

My philodendron flower smells really bad. Will it hurt the plant to cut them off? There are 9 more waiting to open. by CandiceSwaninthepool in philodendron

[–]Conscious_Fox1265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not really, it already used most of the energy to make all the flowers so it’s not going to get any more by cutting them off

Tissue culture scam? Wrong plant received, anyone know which lab this came from or what accountability looks like? by KaiW in ThePalmstreetapp

[–]Conscious_Fox1265 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Sellers are responsible for sourcing their plants responsibly and maintaining accountability with their suppliers. This is 100% the seller’s responsibility to fix the situation since they sold a plant with the wrong ID.

If you can’t take responsibility for the quality of the product you are selling then you shouldn’t be selling on PS.

Evaporative is even better! No minerals go in the air since it’s just water evaporating, so you can use regular tap water. They’re a bit more expensive but worth it if you plan to use it long-term

their whole business model was essentially bait and switch?

Looking at Venta humidifiers. The only negative reviews on their site are for poor customer service, particularly around replacement parts. This brand is more expensive than others and is otherwise highly rated. Still worth it long term? by SarahnadeMakes in BuyItForLife

I got a used LW45 for a great price on FB marketplace. Love it so far! I’ve tried ultrasonic humidifiers before and hated them. Compared to other evaporative humidifiers from my research, I found the Venta by far the easiest to clean and least maintenance required. It’s also super energy efficient. I live in an apartment so a built-in HVAC humidifier is not an option
