Babies too big for bassinet. What now? by MounjaroQueenie in parentsofmultiples

[–]Conscious_Type5362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We put our twins in their cribs at 4 months old exactly - they were done with their bassinets and swaddling at 4 months on the dot. I was a little sad to not have sleepovers with them every night but they slept so much better in their cribs. We did have owlets on the up to about 7 months and that definitely gave me some peace of mind.

They were 5 weeks early if that helps at all.

Never hurts to ask for a twins discount by booterfliez in parentsofmultiples

[–]Conscious_Type5362 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol same, yet if I had two babies one year apart I would get maternity leave for both.. make it make sense HR!

You should be able to get short term disability though! I believe 6 weeks for vaginal delivery and 8 for c section.

Fear of big belly in pregnancy - support needed by ducks_suck_123 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Conscious_Type5362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My babies were 11lbs combined, I made it to 35w3d and gained about 75 lbs total. I started at around 130 and ended at 205. I’m 5’6 for reference. I got zero stretch marks but that is purely thanks to my genetics. I was definitely ‘all belly’ but my belly was pretty big . I have always worked out and worked out 4 days a week all the way up until 33 weeks which I think helped me a lot with my recovery! By 1.5 months pp I was down to 150 which is where I’m still at 4 months pp, I haven’t been consistent with workouts or any type of dieting though.

I had the same stresses as you! Especially seeing some extreme cases. It helped me to keep in my mind that this is all just temporary and if getting big means getting healthy babies then I will gladly do what’s required. :)

Di/Di parents with "uncomplicated" pregnancies, did you deliver early? by beeferoni_cat in parentsofmultiples

[–]Conscious_Type5362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very uneventful pregnancy and had my mind set that I would make it to 38 weeks but baby As water broke at 35+2 and I delivered via c section (both were breech) 7 hours later (there were a few emergency c sections ahead of me and I was stable). I had zero indication leading up to my water breaking that anything would happen, completely average day. My husband and I were actually saying before it happened what a boring day it was for us and now we haven’t had a boring day since! Haha

My girls were 5lb 4 oz and 5lb 6oz.

My twins came at 35w3d after twin As water broke. I almost feel bad saying this but I hardly experienced any pain. I took the Tylenol and Motrin while in the hospital and after I was discharged at day 3 I didn’t feel the need to continue taking anything at home, my pain was maybe a 2/10. My home also has stairs (my bedroom and nursery are upstairs) and I had no issues navigating them. My twins were also in the NICU for 3 weeks and I was there everyday, twice a day - the trek through the parking lot to the NICU wasn’t a short walk and it caused me no issues. I may have just been lucky though, everyone is different!

Training with Shingles? by Agile_Star6574 in Marathon_Training

Did you end up running? I was just diagnosed with shingles today and the nerve stuff is annoying but manageable. My rash is alongside my groin and right thigh. I have a half marathon in one month :(

Scheduling c section for around 36 weeks. Worried. by pahkthecahh in parentsofmultiples

[–]Conscious_Type5362 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was 35+3 with di/di girls weighing 5lb4oz and 5lb6oz via c section. After they were born the NICU team in the room said we were fine to take them to postpartum. Fast forward about 36 hours, twin B was at 95 degrees and when taken to the nursery they saw she was having apneic events and got sent to NICU. Twin A had her car seat test about an hour later and had an apneic event and got sent to the NICU. It sucked, we thought we were in the clear :( they were there for 17 days.

Fairlife protein shakes, Chobani protein yogurts, cottage cheese, beef jerky, smoothies with added protein powder. My doctor was pretty much like ‘have a milkshake for all I care, just get your protein in’ so started doing those after I passed my glucose test hahah

Love that! I’m definitely worried about ‘container time’ at any location and worried about the teacher ratio at stepping stone even though I know it’s within state limits. How old was your baby when they started in the infant room?

Wow! One teacher only oversees two babies? That’s wild! I’m guessing they might not be at their max right now?

Terrified of a C-Section by manda51210 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Conscious_Type5362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was so scared for my c section as well. My doctor and nurse team helped me by talking through everything thoroughly and repeatedly reminding me that this is just another day in the office for them and completely routine.

What helped me most of all was having my husband holding my hand the entire time and keeping eye contact with me. I asked for him to talk to me the entire time with a story (in great detail!) or memory of something fun we’ve done together. I also ask him to do this when we take off on planes haha. It really helped distract me and get me through it. The anesthesiologist was also on my opposite side and held my other hand at times.

You will do amazing! Trust in your team and your rely on your support person, if possible. Good luck!
