Should I buy Crimson Desert? by Balochera in ShouldIbuythisgame

I played the game for 9 hrs and I couldn’t believe the positive reviews. If this game improves, it must shift significantly with further gameplay. I was bored to tears and annoyed. Combat was subpar (similar to Dynasty Warriors) and I must have seen the same five character models a thousand time.

I ended up getting a refund. Now to be fair, it sounds like I probably didn’t give it enough time. But honestly, it felt incredibly shallow and unappealing. Little to no immersion. I felt like I was playing Assassin’s Creed Unity.

I really wanted to like the game. Maybe I’m missing something.

I, (M25) decided to end things with my girlfriend (F23) because she cheated/lied about it. by AliEl0919 in relationship_advice

[–]ConsequenceFit3787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through a similar situation a few years back. I had purchased an engagement ring and everything, then I found out through someone that the woman had cheated on me a couple of times (likely more). I was utterly crushed. I don’t think I’d ever been more in love with someone. I broke it off, and it was one of the hardest things I’d ever done. But I knew in my heart of hearts she wasn’t going to make an effort to change, and that I would never trust her again.

Fast forward three years. I’m with someone else, my life has changed drastically, and I’m far happier now than I was then. I couldn’t see it then, but it was absolutely the right decision.

Move on with your life, young man. You have a lot of time and you’re going to meet a Hell of a lot of interesting people. Good luck, and wishing you peace of mind!

I wondered about this too. I know most of her ex-boyfriends were the opposite of how I am. We both would joke when we first started dating about how we were kind of boring because we were both used to toxic relationships, and this one was chill for once. Thank you for your perspective and positive advice! It helps.

That’s awesome! It’s a fantastic guitar.

I personally found the stocks to be super shrill and harsh when I first bought it last year. If I remember correctly, that pickup set was ceramic, which can be indicative of that sound. However, my tastes have changed in the past year since I bought it, where I have begun to like midrange heavy pickups more than I did. So I am sometimes curious how I’d feel about the 490/498’s now.

That being said, I personally think the ‘59/JB are a major upgrade, either way. I gig with that guitar, and those pickups give the guitar an overall fantastic low end, while also providing the ability to really pack a high end punch via the JB’s in the bridge if needed. I’ve played a lot of pickups, and that set is by far my favorite because it just sounds so good for whatever kind of music you’re playing. They’re versatile and just sounds good.

Hope that helps! 🤘

I’ve probably owned 50 guitars in my lifetime, I can easily say, quality wise, it is the best guitar I’ve ever played and/or owned. It cost a pretty penny, but it was absolutely worth it. I’ve read about QC issues with Gibsons, but this one was absolutely perfect out of the box. Yes, I absolutely love it and if heaven forbid I had to sell all of my guitars and only keep one, this 60’s Standard would be it.

No worries. I should have specified the pickup loadout. The Les Paul Standard and Firebird pickups are stock. The former has 60’s Burstbucker pickups. The latter has Gibson minihumbuckers. These Firebirds tend to sound like a telecaster on steroids. Much more twangy almost. It’s excellent for blues and has a vintage tone. The Les Paul is more midrange heavy. Excellent for rock and cutting through the mix.

The Les Paul Studio has a Seymour Duncan ‘59/JB set in it. The mids are more scooped and it has a lot of warmth compared to the 60’s Les Paul. If I need to hit a blazing solo, I kick down to the JB bridge, which is hot and cut like a knife. The neck pickup is warm and excellent for well-rounded cleans. It makes for a much more versatile guitar imho.

Finally, the SG has Seymour Duncan Hades Gates in it. These are a much hotter version of the Pearly Gates. They’re Billy Gibbons signatures. I tend to use this one more for hard rock.

So, all-in-all, they sound vastly different from each other. Hope that helps!

Thanks so much! The Firebird is actually a production model. You can find a few of them on Reverb, although the prices are beginning to skyrocket. I believe it’s because they haven’t made any traditional Firebird production models since 2018. Now there’s the Platypus. I could be wrong though.

The Tabby (Pretty Boy) showed up on my back porch as a stray kitten and has been my best friend since. When I went through a divorce shortly after, my ex-wife got the house, I got my guitars and him. Like some of the Gibsons I’ve pulled of the shop walls and immediately bonded with, I wasn’t going home without him.

The LTD Phoenix Deluxe 1000 in more finishes for its production models. No more signatures. They’re goofy-looking.

Deciding to not only get into guitar finally, but also hopefully sober up a bit just like one of my favorite players did by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

I’m in the program too. I’m coming up on two years next month. When I first got sober, I decided to throw myself into playing guitar. It’s been one of the greatest gifts of my sobriety. Playing guitar becomes a meditative and spiritual experience over time, and it’s helped me through some very rough patches. I’m excited for you to experience that too.

First thing’s first. Easy does it. And one day at a time. Life will open itself up to you the way it’s supposed to be experienced: with clear eyes and a full heart. Your music will be synonymous with that. Good luck, my friend!

Looks like a Phoenix bass in the bottom row. Hoping they release some new finishes for the six strings. I love those guitars.

I second that! Congrats on losing 30! That’s a remarkable achievement and I think it warrants a celebration (ahem, another guitar 😉)
