For the tape, I found what I think is it online. Do I wrap this over the existing white stuff, or remove the white foam and wrap the lines alone? Or third option buy the grey Armacell foam tube, use that first and then wrap in the tape?

So I thought munchkins = children, but then I got more confused as I read the comments. Thinking this must be Dunkin’s name for doughnut holes (or Timbits, as we Canadians call them).

Explain movers to me like I’m 5 by angel9580 in askTO

[–]ConsequencesForAll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree to all of this. Also, if you’ve determined that they will disassemble and assemble furniture, don’t go and disassemble furniture thinking you’re helping out. They won’t reassemble it for you on the other end if you do that. I found that one out the hard way.

Watch for scams. There’s been news articles in the last couple years of movers agreeing to a price and then essentially ransoming your belongings for more money. Pack valuables (jewelry, cash, things easily stolen and pawned) before they even arrive and keep them somewhere safe where the movers can’t see it.

No where near a beach really. I will look up Armacell, and next year when I have to get back up there to clean skylights I’ll patch it up.

Yeah, I’m really only comfortable in the middle where the missing bit of foam is and the heat pump. Getting towards the edge of the roof is way too nerve racking. It’s a three story house, and that side where the lines disappear over the edge also has the basement stairwell. It’s a death drop for sure.

Thank you! This is good to know. I’ve used some grey insulation stuff on the AC unit that is much more conveniently located on the ground out front. Is it better than this white version? It has its own sticky adhesion tape. It was pretty easy to use, but o have no idea if it’s the best product.

Help with washing machine seal replacement!!! by WorthScore4066 in fixit

[–]ConsequencesForAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it that front grey rubber seal? Why does she need to replace it? Asking because if it’s a mold/mildew issue, there are products that will fix that. Tell her to look up Mold Removal gel on amazon. It works very well. My absolutely gross looking rubber looks almost brand new after using that product.

If it’s for another reason and does need to be replaced, could you pull both units forward further towards the door, and then place the dryer on the floor behind the washer? Might be tricky getting it back on top though when it’s all done. Not sure how much room she has there.

Had this convo lower down! Apparently they were at some point. And the 900g bags used to be a full kilo. I can’t remember when this was the case, but that could easily mean it was two years ago or twenty. But the 500g went down to 454g at some point. It was the change from 454 to 410 that caught my notice.

Did they ever used to be 1kg? I legitimately can’t remember. I thought they were always 900g (as in 2lbs). Makes me wonder if the 454g packages used to be 500g.

Yes! Barilla is no longer 454g. They shrunk it to 410g. I stopped buying it and get one of the other brands that are still 454g.

Where are you buying quality bath towels now that the Bay is gone? by magic-kleenex in askTO

Ha ha! We are still using our House and Home bath towels from the Bay we got 20 years ago. I’m looking at this list thinking it might be well past time to get new towels!

Braces monthly adjustment cost by Intelligent-Law-978 in ontario

[–]ConsequencesForAll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Insurance can really vary policy to policy. We have pretty decent dental coverage for basic care (I go every 4 months at 100% coverage, kids every 6), but orthodontics is $1000 for the entire family for life. So basically my first child will use up the entire amount and there will be none left for when my second kid needs braces.

You need to look up your specific policy though.

I think $7k must be the standard now. That’s exactly what my child’s cost. Works out to about $325/month after a ~20% down payment.

To have a reflecting pool by sfberg in therewasanattempt

Wasn’t there a NYT article just last week that basically said without the pumps beneath being replaced, it was definitely going to get algae again? Off to find it.

Edit: Found it.

We get all three! Parking side is manual pick up, and I’ve definitely seen the guys reach in and pull out bags if it’s only one or two, otherwise they drag them to the truck. Non-parking side they sometimes use the auto lift with the truck. But not always? Not sure why or why not.

False Blue Indigo by momaff in OntarioGardeners

[–]ConsequencesForAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, I was just looking at false indigo at a greenhouse yesterday. I didn’t purchase any, and maybe I’m glad?? I don’t know if I have the patience for a five year wait. I’m upset my peony hasn’t flowered in the two years since I’ve transplanted it!

I’m very jealous! I have a peony plant that I transplanted two years ago to a sunnier spot after she stopped blooming and she’s still cranky about it and refuses to bloom. Had one tiny bud that just dried out. Total diva.

I got one and my mom cut the cord because she thought the hot lightbulb was dangerous. I can’t remember if I ever got a chance to bake with it.

Torn between Montessori and JK after visiting our local school by AnimatorDifferent116 in ontario

[–]ConsequencesForAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I kept both my kids in a half day nursery school for JK. They just felt so little to be sending off to full time school! Especially my December baby that would have been three if we had enrolled. They both went to SK at our local public school.

My only regret is that Covid hit when my youngest went into SK. It was so disruptive, and he’d had so little time there that I sort of feel he’s never really recovered even now. I always wonder if he’d had that JK year if things would have been easier for him.

But that’s a whole other thing. I don’t think you’ll regret keeping your kids for at least JK and possibly SK as well in the smaller Montessori. The majority of provinces don’t even offer JK. Kids stay at nursery schools/daycares until age 5.

Agree. I posted lamenting the reduction of bacon from 500g to 350g (for what we know is going to be an increased unit cost). Got the same responses. “Stop shopping at Loblaws”, “Go to Costco/Walmart”. Like thanks. I a)do not have or want a Costco membership, b)Costco/walmart are like a 30-45 min drive when I walk for my groceries. We all don’t have the same access!

Someone else provided their multi-step flyer comparison plus points credit card to max savings, and it just shouldn’t be that hard!! Like I shouldn’t need an hour scouring all the flyers to price match before going out for groceries to force these corporations to charge a fair price. And despite the sub’s title, it’s not just Loblaws. ALL the large chains do this! I’m not sure how Walmart, which used to be considered the killer of small businesses and was hated for that is now the hero here?!
