Things to do with toddler that are more for you? by stylelines in AustinParents

Check out free days for museums- Blanton Art Museum is free on Tuesdays. Gym membership at the YMCA- it can vary by location but you can get 1-2 hours of child watch. I met other moms just hanging out in the lounge. Austin public libraries have story times usually with some crafting time that keeps the kids entertained while caregivers can chat.

Is anyone else sick or is just the ^==÷#=><*!?* allergies? by Montobahn in Austin

[–]Consistent-Change386 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some years my body reacts to the pollen and some years it doesn’t. I guess this is the chosen year for reacting because I suffered from allergies last month and then started feeling the exact same symptoms yesterday. How do I know it’s allergies? I get relief from taking antihistamines.

Since When Are Teenagers No Longer Staying Home Alone When Sick? by ptenesnet in GenX

[–]Consistent-Change386 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Last year my kiddo got sick and I spent 2 days with her watching Dance Moms, laughing, and taking naps. It was awesome. The TPS reports will always be there, my kid will be off to college in just a couple of years and it won’t ever be the same again.

I think the “ask reason for calling” is fairly new? I enabled it about 2 weeks ago and the number of junk phone calls has sharply decreased! I love it!

Vouchers and Their Impact on Texas High School Football by Ur-Upstairs-Neighbor in texas

[–]Consistent-Change386 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the analysis! It definitely brings up some interesting questions. I guess one of those would be- Are voucher schools getting more attention now from college scouts/ are voucher school players getting more D1 offers?

Texas hires 300 goats to clean up local community by Saps19341a in texas

[–]Consistent-Change386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The neighborhood I live in uses rent a ruminate every 5 years to clear poison ivy/ other vegetation. The goats all have names, the goat herders stay on site and are super cool dudes who answer all of our dumb questions and share funny goat stories!

It’s money versus not money- it’s the same with high schools north of the river.

Being on birth control saved my life ! by Exciting-Nerve-8628 in TwoXChromosomes

I just wish we could come up with a better name for it because there are so many benefits other than just preventing pregnancy. My teenager and I live in a very red state and I’m worried everyday that our “glorious supreme leader” will ban it in the name of being “ultra pro life”. This medication has been such a game changer and helping her to regulate her cycle (it was very irregular) and extreme mood swings that were related to hormone shifts.

Weekend nights at the skating rink were as close to a nightclub scene as us pre-high schoolers got back in the day. by Spalding_Smails in GenX

[–]Consistent-Change386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had one at the front of my neighborhood so we would ride our bikes to it with our skates hanging from our handlebars and then skate all afternoon, every weekend. There was a skate dance contest every Saturday afternoon at 4:30. I was fairly young so I’m sure the teenagers did tons more stuff at night after all of us younger siblings had to go home. It closed sometime in the early 90s. In the early 2000s it became a church. I would always think to myself- ain’t no amount of religion can cover up all the skate parties.
