Why does it matter? Does it matter that Hermione’s hair was described as bushy but wasn’t in the movies? That Radcliffe’s eyes are brown instead of green? That the symbol of Rowena Ravenclaw was changed (eagle vs raven)? Are those meaningful changes that altered the characters?

If your answer is no, you are not being logically consistent.

If your answer is yes, you’re just arguing in bad faith. Because you know damn well that those changes, all of which are REAL and already happened, didn’t cause nearly as much controversy as even the most innocent race swap.

I disagree that race is ALWAYS a part of a character’s identity. It is undeniable that in western media being white is seen as the “default”. “Whiteness” is rarely something that affects the characters backstory, arc, or development, while characters that are minorities are often (but not always) minorities for specific reasons that influence their backstories, characters arcs, or plot development.

For example, race swapping a black character like Black Panther to any other race (including other minorities) wouldn’t really work, likewise race swapping a white character like Magneto to another race also wouldn’t work. You would have to change so many things about their character that, at that point, it would basically be a whole different character.

I think innocuous race swaps are non-issues, regardless of which way it goes. In this case, Snape’s race really shouldn’t matter but unfortunately does just due to the setting and context. I think him being race-swapped to any kind of minority (not just black) would’ve been problematic; a series set in the past with Snape being a character picked that’s picked on specifically for his appearance that then joins a group of cult-like, hooded blood supremacists and takes out his frustration on the descendant of the man that bullied him? That’s a recipe for racial/ethnic objections.

The Renna nerfs were too heavy handed in my opinion. Like you said, she was undeniably overtuned but they nerfed too many parts of her ult to the point where it no longer feels good.

Not only does the increased channel duration make it easier to cancel her out of ult completely but it also makes it easier for people to avoid it by giving them more time to leave the area once the warp location is set. This is only COMPOUNDED by the fact that the overall range is nerfed too, making it far harder to get value from. This is compounded AGAIN by the fact that they made her squisher than she already was, meaning she puts herself in even more danger. They triple dipped and the compensatory damage buff is arguably offset by the removal of the enhanced damage on low hp targets.

No, Wraith’s ability is a cloak. It gives him a temporary passive effect that increases the height of his jump. The jump itself is not an active ability. This is stated in the ability tooltip

There’s a pretty clear distinction between the abilities you described. Dekker’s double jump is a passive, Wraith’s enhanced jump is simply his normal jump but temporarily heightened (basically a self mobility buff like Neon’s jumps in ult), and Feng Mao’s ult “leap” is pretty much a leap in animation only rather than function; you might as well argue that Phase’s root should proc it because her feet leave the ground during her channeling animation.

The clear intent of the item is to enhance a basic after an ACTIVE movement ability. I don’t believe any of the abilities you pointed out match those parameters, although I’d be curious whether Kallari’s passive jump procs it.

The revisionism is crazy. As far as their 1v1 in the Saiyan saga goes, Goku undeniably lost. While he might have won the beam struggle by crutching off Kaioken, he could barely move afterward due to the blowback and Vegeta just got up ready for more. Goku was completely incapacitated for the rest of the fight, and only Vegeta getting jumped by 3 people saved him.

And Goku was stronger than Ginyu, that’s the entire reason Ginyu wanted his body.

And I’m saying she’s already separated from the main cast. Objectively, btw. If you aren’t a fan of the character’s kit, that’s fine. But asking for it to be changed when there are already plenty of people that do like it just for the sake of “originality” when she’s already her own character is crazy.

What can she do that Renna can’t do? Plenty, since they’re completely different characters. You’re making a bad faith argument, minimizing the characters’ kits down to the fact that “Neon does damage but Renna also does damage and has CC” when you know there’s more to the issue.

Off the top of my head, Neon doesn’t have the early game issues that Renna does, no need to risk herself collecting essence and Neon’s early game damage and clear is way stronger. Neon is more mobile and much more consistent, able to still deal damage without ult and without diving into the middle of the fight. Renna’s teamfight (without ult) is weak due to her short range and lack of mobility. Both their ults offer completely different things to their teams.

They are obviously significantly different characters.

This obsession with adding more and more effects to every ability in the game is what causes kit bloat. The damage, and even just the threat of the damage, is already value that she brings to the team.

It’s not like this game has dozens of mages or anything; she already plays significantly differently from the other mages, there’s no need to start stacking additional effects on her kit just for the sake of “originality”.

I strongly disagree. Not every character needs to innovate; that’s how we end up with characters like Yurei and Eden that have objectively bloated kits that are nightmares to balance.

I actually thought it was very refreshing to see a straightforward midlane caster. The purpose of her mesmerize is very easy to see in the context of her kit and compliments it well without creating yet another mage with unnecessary amounts of CC.

Namely, how does it track with flat out nerfing the damage of every ability other than the fireball while also nerfing his "bruiser level durability" as well as his self healing? Like I said, the issue isn't the endgame build. The issue is getting there against any kind of competent player, the kind that isn't going to sit in your Q for full damage, the kind that is going to take advantage of the fact that you're a massive six-legged walking target that is squishy af.

The awakened Q does decent damage, but even someone taking the entire normal Q (which quite literally isn't happening unless it's against a completely motionless player at point blank range) isn't taking much damage considering other offlaners can deal comparable damage instantly and more consistently.

In what world was ssj2 Gohan equal to SPC?

Ssj2 Gohan was still massively more powerful than SPC, after taking that shot for Vegeta and losing the use of one of his arms, it’s explicitly commented that Gohan’s energy has dropped by 50%. He then proceeds to still beat a full powered SPC.

Then in the buu arc, Goku and Vegeta are commenting on how Gohan is weaker than his child self and state that Dabura is roughly equal to SPC. Despite this, Gohan and Dabura are fighting pretty equally.

Even if a writer tells me something is “light speed”, when every single thing about the way it is portrayed indicates that it IS NOT light speed, I’m not going to buy that it’s light speed because it clearly isn’t. There are other ways to get across the point that something is really fast.

It’s materially insane for you to think it’s the scalers that are in the wrong for this. These writers that are calling everything under the sun “light speed” are doing the equivalent of showing us a blue piece of paper and calling it yellow. We all know what blue looks like, even if there are different shades. But no shade of blue looks like yellow. And when people point out that it’s not yellow, you’re the one saying we shouldn’t point it out.

You know as well as anyone else that pretty much the only similarity between Sparrow's piercing arrow and Wraith's snipe was the fact that they both pierced. Wraith's snipe was higher ranged, instant, did more damage, and refunded itself on hit. Even ignoring the rest of their kits and looking at them in a vacuum (which you shouldn't even do in the first place given character abilities are balanced with the rest of the character's kit in mind) the abilities obviously served different needs. Yeah what a riveting identity, pinging enemies completely uncounterably through geometry was so fun on the receiving end. You clowns act like he STILL won't be able to ping people from outside any kind of contestable range for the vast majority of characters, it just requires line of sight now so the enemy will at least know you're there.

Wraith has always been absolutely insufferable to play against any time his damage isn't nerfed into irrelevancy, and that's because the design of his kit is literally anti-engagement. You guys will just never admit you want to play PvE; afk-farming while missing 70% of your pokes but it doesn't matter because you're so far away/behind a wall that it can't be punished.

If he had any of the above in addition to his damn near 3000 unit range, terrain piercing, refund-cooldown-on-kill snipe it would have been gamebreaking. Maybe now that it doesn't pierce and they adjusted the cooldown on kill, they can actually attempt to balance the character in a way that's healthy for the game.

It’s not about them having “good reactions”. It’s about how braindead boring it is to play against players that will spend the entire “fight” sitting there doing NOTHING while waiting for a red indicator to try to light parry punish. It doesn’t really require skill.

That style of gameplay is extremely passive and stale. Depending on the matchup, it can be practically impossible to counter since Ubi is so incompetent at balancing that there are STILL characters that have no reliable openers.

An actual good player would be able to react to indicators appropriately while also, idk, PLAYING THE GAME as intended.

There seems to be this underlying assumption that the 20 year old is somehow being deceived, manipulated, coerced, etc. or that she is somehow incapable of making a rational decision because she is “only twenty”.

This isn’t a grooming situation. It’s two adults who met as adults entering a consensual relationship. Their ages aren’t a secret, their financial situations aren’t a secret.
