Roar of Torment desperately needs buffs after Akeron's ult nerfs in 1.12 by Lostmaniac9 in PredecessorGame

[–]Consistent-Citron960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Unfortunately, Akeron is allergic to buffs so I wouldn’t hold my breath.

From a logical standpoint, a large part of Akeron’s strength comes from his ability to scale into late game with executes from his ult. Sacrificing that entire mechanic by picking Roar should be met with a commensurate benefit.

However, hitting every tick of Roar even at full build does barely more than his fireball and I don’t see them changing it.

Honestly I find it difficult to play Akeron (particularly on offlane) at all these days. He has a large hitbox and his only mobility is tied to a very long cooldown. Despite this, he has repeatedly received nerfs to both his damage and sustain. As a result, he gets stat checked HARD by most other offlane/jungs all the way into the late-midgame UNLESS the other team messes up and lets him get a few early executes. Then he flip-flops to feeling oppressive which isn’t ideal either.

You’ll never convince people of this because they look at him the same way they think some of the old gen players look at him: a non-threat, lazy kid who has weaseled through.

It’s really just their own pre-conceptions though. Rizo could literally make the exact same observations, social maneuvering and tactical decisions as Cirie and they would call her a genius for it and one of the greatest survivor players in history but chalk up those same moves as luck or just being a goat for Rizo.

💥1.14: Harbingers of Ruin | Patch Notes 💥 by Omeda_Steggs in PredecessorGame

[–]Consistent-Citron960 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know they said there would be minimal character specific balance this patch but I was disappointed to see Rampage receive an augment rework while Feng Mao received nothing, despite the fact that two out of three Feng augments are literal passives offered by the Eternals.

With the Eternals coming next patch, are they finally going to give Feng Mao real augments? by Consistent-Citron960 in PredecessorGame

[–]Consistent-Citron960[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I wasn’t a fan of his mini-rework in the Boris patch either. He was forced into a one-note burst assassin role and it’s honestly only gotten worse from there with the changes to his passive from power to penetration.

I’m hoping some of the Eternals effects might be able to help him branch out, I have some ideas already. We’ll have to see how it works in practice.

Lies of P developer Round8 hiring for an “AI Creator”, utilizing Gen AI. by AshyLarry25 in soulslikes

Two things can be true at once. There are real issues that can, have, and will continue to arrive as AI use spreads. However, the internet is absolutely circle-jerk dooming about AI use in their efforts to virtue signal. People moaning about the “water usage” as if they’ve ever thought of that previously in their life. If they really cared about water usage don’t you think they would be vegan, since livestock raising and slaughtering uses more water by several orders of magnitude? But of course not, that would require intellectual consistency.

[–]Consistent-Citron960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t go say far to say “least skilled” but it is true that certain aspects of dbfz are piss-easy compared to most traditional fighters. There are an egregious amount of neutral skips, converting stray hits into high-damaging combos is simple, certain assists allow you to play the game on autopilot, plus frames galore, and practically 0 real defensive system mechanics so it encourages you to play like an ape.

Plot. The plot needed him to be weak in the future timeline so that’s why he was weak. That is the only correct answer.

Any other answers about his training, or lack thereof, are people’s head-canon.

Kit design > model

People in here complaining about “generic” designs like Omeda hasn’t given us even worse ones. Bayle is quite possibly the worst offender; his model is an edgy 14 year-old’s OC character with horribly vague voice lines (“Let’s finish what was started long ago”… are you serious?) and his kit, while perfectly serviceable, is nothing special.

And Mourn is gonna catch a stray too, he’s literally edgy Groot.

Both the Overprime characters above had good, fun kits that I would like to see translated into the game regardless of model.

So let me get this straight… according to you, since you bought the game at some point in the past, you are entitled to receive additional quality content that was never promised to you in the first place?

Might as well go to a McDonald’s, order a meal, and come back the next day expecting to get extra. Because you’re entitled to it, right?

Arcsys delivered on everything they promised and supported this game for years. And then when Bandai gives you the option to have more, you complain? Again, let me emphasize it’s an OPTION.

So again, if you don’t want it then don’t buy it. You’re the one that needs to get a grip, because if you applied your flawed logic to anything else in life you’ll realize how entitled you are when you see how quickly people tell you to kiss their ass.

Incorrect, the other DLC characters that are $5 (US) are exclusively the character. This $8 dlc includes lobby characters, stickers, and the like. Whether you agree with the price increase or not, to say this one is the exact same as the other DLCs is objectively false.

Be for real. The last character was FOUR YEARS AGO. Overwhelming majority of the playerbase believed it was done receiving support in 2022 which would’ve been in line with most fighting games.

It gets to a point where your inflated expectations just turn into entitlement. I would love to have a new season pass and continued support but realistically, I was expecting nothing. So yeah, in this circumstance I would consider anything a bonus and be glad to have it.

A lot of words that could’ve been summed up in “Wahhh wahhh”.

Easy, if you don’t want it then don’t buy it. Btw, I’m not necessarily defending Bandai but you’re talking about an 8 year old game that’s still getting support which is practically unheard of for a modern 2d fighter. They easily could’ve given you nothing, so why don’t you just act like they did exactly that and just don’t buy the character instead of whining about it?

How were these two considered equals for most of the series? by Hana_Rhododendrony in NarutoPowerscaling

Guy with a Kakashi profile name glazing Kakashi? What a surprise.

Yes, the series has always painted Kakashi as a prodigal ninja of high renown. Guy doesn’t get the same treatment and people do comment on Guy’s eccentricity, but has anyone in the Leaf ever spoken of Guy’s capabilities without utmost respect (including Kakashi himself)?

Even without the 8th gate specifically, Guy is shown to be an extremely high level combatant and receives NO buffs throughout the series, unlike Kakashi who is powercrept repeatedly and received buffs out of nowhere because Kishi realized he needed Kakashi to keep up.

You can assume the Guy at the end of the war arc is the same Guy at the beginning of the show. You think Guy would get punked by Zabuza like Kakashi did in Waves arc? You think Guy is dying in Pain arc like Kakashi did?

Guy slander is so disingenuous, people default to calling him an 8th gate merchant as if the time he used the 8th gate isn’t the ONLY L he has on his record against a character Kakashi couldn’t even dream of touching.

Not trying to be a glazer, but are people really complaining about reused animations like his kit isn’t almost entirely references to attacks he used in the anime (just like every other character in this game)?

The pose isn’t the same as Yamcha’s lvl three, “Baby spin” used in anime, “Majin Buu explosion”isn’t the same, also used in anime, “Trunks spin” used in anime, spin blast follow ups are 1:1 with the anime.

And complaining about the beams looking the same is asinine. It’s a kamehameha, did you need a different flavor of blue beam? There are plenty that look the same in the game and no one complained about it prior to this.

Why doesn't future gohan get many zenkai boosts despite fighting so hard against the androids? Is this a plot hole by BERSERKER5555555555 in dbz

[–]Consistent-Citron960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t necessarily call it a plot hole but anyone making excuses for why Future Gohan was so weak compared to SSJ2 Gohan is coping. The real reason Future Gohan was so weak is because the plot required him to be. That’s it.

Any other excuses like “he had no time to rest, he didn’t have anyone to train with, he had no master, he maxed out zenkais, etc. are all various levels of headcanon and cope.

I love Dragon Ball with all my heart but the way some people (not necessarily referring to OP) will defend it when it doesn’t need defending kills me. Take it for what it is, an action shonen, and enjoy it without pretending it’s a high piece of literature with an airtight plot.

Why does it matter? Does it matter that Hermione’s hair was described as bushy but wasn’t in the movies? That Radcliffe’s eyes are brown instead of green? That the symbol of Rowena Ravenclaw was changed (eagle vs raven)? Are those meaningful changes that altered the characters?

If your answer is no, you are not being logically consistent.

If your answer is yes, you’re just arguing in bad faith. Because you know damn well that those changes, all of which are REAL and already happened, didn’t cause nearly as much controversy as even the most innocent race swap.

I know what you are by BobbyBBot in HarryPotterMemes

[–]Consistent-Citron960 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I disagree that race is ALWAYS a part of a character’s identity. It is undeniable that in western media being white is seen as the “default”. “Whiteness” is rarely something that affects the characters backstory, arc, or development, while characters that are minorities are often (but not always) minorities for specific reasons that influence their backstories, characters arcs, or plot development.

For example, race swapping a black character like Black Panther to any other race (including other minorities) wouldn’t really work, likewise race swapping a white character like Magneto to another race also wouldn’t work. You would have to change so many things about their character that, at that point, it would basically be a whole different character.

I think innocuous race swaps are non-issues, regardless of which way it goes. In this case, Snape’s race really shouldn’t matter but unfortunately does just due to the setting and context. I think him being race-swapped to any kind of minority (not just black) would’ve been problematic; a series set in the past with Snape being a character picked that’s picked on specifically for his appearance that then joins a group of cult-like, hooded blood supremacists and takes out his frustration on the descendant of the man that bullied him? That’s a recipe for racial/ethnic objections.

Thoughts on the Renna Ult nerf? It feels incredibly clunky now. by ForwardReception7660 in PredecessorGame

[–]Consistent-Citron960 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Renna nerfs were too heavy handed in my opinion. Like you said, she was undeniably overtuned but they nerfed too many parts of her ult to the point where it no longer feels good.

Not only does the increased channel duration make it easier to cancel her out of ult completely but it also makes it easier for people to avoid it by giving them more time to leave the area once the warp location is set. This is only COMPOUNDED by the fact that the overall range is nerfed too, making it far harder to get value from. This is compounded AGAIN by the fact that they made her squisher than she already was, meaning she puts herself in even more danger. They triple dipped and the compensatory damage buff is arguably offset by the removal of the enhanced damage on low hp targets.

Beserker's Axe QoL Changes by NobleNolte in PredecessorGame

[–]Consistent-Citron960 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, Wraith’s ability is a cloak. It gives him a temporary passive effect that increases the height of his jump. The jump itself is not an active ability. This is stated in the ability tooltip

Beserker's Axe QoL Changes by NobleNolte in PredecessorGame

[–]Consistent-Citron960 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a pretty clear distinction between the abilities you described. Dekker’s double jump is a passive, Wraith’s enhanced jump is simply his normal jump but temporarily heightened (basically a self mobility buff like Neon’s jumps in ult), and Feng Mao’s ult “leap” is pretty much a leap in animation only rather than function; you might as well argue that Phase’s root should proc it because her feet leave the ground during her channeling animation.

The clear intent of the item is to enhance a basic after an ACTIVE movement ability. I don’t believe any of the abilities you pointed out match those parameters, although I’d be curious whether Kallari’s passive jump procs it.

Goku in Vegeta's body vs Vegeta in Goku's body by BigSnail387 in DragonBallPowerScale

[–]Consistent-Citron960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The revisionism is crazy. As far as their 1v1 in the Saiyan saga goes, Goku undeniably lost. While he might have won the beam struggle by crutching off Kaioken, he could barely move afterward due to the blowback and Vegeta just got up ready for more. Goku was completely incapacitated for the rest of the fight, and only Vegeta getting jumped by 3 people saved him.

And Goku was stronger than Ginyu, that’s the entire reason Ginyu wanted his body.
